Yes, it is true that it can't be turned into actual gold, it can be turned into a substance similar to gold. It's called "synthesis", it synthesizes gold as opposed to becoming it, it gives the illusion of lead being gold.
My main arguement was how alchemy is fake, this "lead to gold" thing was an example. It is the cliche people think of when they say "alchemy", right?
In your paragraph, you more or less state that
A) Lead can't turn to gold
B) Alchemy is fake

This, we must then infer, means that alchemists who attempted this practice made an illusion of gold, ie: fake gold. We could state that alchemists are in reality masters of illusion. Illusion=/=real, therefore alchemy is fake.
I don't mean to be rude, but you basically called me a dumbass and then said that I was right, I needed to refute your claim.
