4.24 = magic # for 90% of the flash in top 50? I dont think there actually is a voting system, i think admins stopped keeping track of that a while ago and just make up numbers. Everything thats awesome gets 4.24, good = 3.80'ish, and nothing else matters.

The Admins have no control over the score, it's the votes that count.

If you go to any page in the list of all the flashes you'll see that 4.24 isn't the only "magic number".

The're alot of flashes so it's common that more than one flash shares the same score, seeing as there are more flashes than possible scores.

What I think happens is that something comes along and gets to the top of the top 50 straight away. Then people start to compare it to other top 50 submissions, thinking 'oh, I like prowlies better than this, so I'll vote 0 to make things right'. Once a submission drops into the 4.24 zone (most of the top 50), slight changes can shift it considerably, so as soon its below prowlies, that user stops voting 0. If its actually a good submission, other people will be voting high, so eventually it balances out, and once it get a large number of votes, its hard to shift it, so at 4.24 it stays.

The-super-flash-bros reason why, which i think is pretty much what it is.

36 flash movies have a score of 4.24, which is about 72% of the movies on the top 50.

It's just how the scores of the top 50 ended up. If you have a flash that can retain a score of at least 4.22, it'll be on the top 50. The reason those numbers don't change a lot is because of the massive amount of votes on most of the submissions in the top 50.

Then you think like an idiot. If we had a longer decimal place you'd see they have different scores. Like:

4.2432423
4.2432454
4.2435769
4.2483243

and so on.

You could try voting on a couple of the top 50 Flash and when you do that you should see a longer decimal version of the score, allowing you to see the score more precisely.

wouldn't "4.2483243" round up to 4.25 in a system of three significant digits. Wade, I dont believe that you took your chemistrys!

I tend to notice that my stuff hangs around the 4.19 - 4.21 mark after it hits the top 50. People get angry if my stuff creeps in at the bottom because it offends and confuses them. I don't mind too much but I can imagine there are a lot of "top 50 defenders" that feel it's their duty to zero me out of there (In fact people have told me that they do that). As long as Adam Phillips' stuff is up there then I guess I can't complain.

After about 100,000 votes, the scores tend to even out.
My personal theory to keep a larger score is to do a littlefoot/Ultimateshowdown.
Submit the entry shortly after the weekly awrds are handed out. After you submissions gets a really high score, it'll get a Front Page. It'll spend say, one week one the front page with great, non-biased audience. Then After the week is done you'll have like 20k non-down voted votes. After the weekly's are given out and your submission gets on the Top50, then pray your Front Page stay lasts pretty long, so that the fair votes out weigh the Auto-0ers.

Then again, anybody who is good enough to make 4.2x flashes don't give a fuck about the Top50 in actuallity.

It tends to a limit as the votes increase.

As the number of votes a flash recieves, the score tends to a certain number, but that number can only go so high. The limit to how high the average votes can go usually levels out at 4.24.
