I believe that we won't go to war(incase the dictator really didn't apologize about nukes). I heard that China will deal with it because of the fact that they are a strong army and north korea is landlocked by other countries. Theres really no point in going there. Have any thoughts?

Aren't already discussing going to war with N. Korea, the use of nuclear arms, U.N. sanctions and other alternatives for dealing with Kim Jong Il in another thread? >:/ you seem to be obsessed with this issue. Just don't create another "why was my topic locked?" thread, please.

relax man, this is totally new. If not then why didn't I found this. This is the only thing people are talking about in this thread anyway(well..other than bush),
Everyone is posting about bush and there is too many of them, why not talk to them about it? All I'm trying to do is get the newest information as possible. If you think this is annoying to you then don't reply, it would be a waste of time.
No, I will not post the why this topic is locked.

Cool. I don't mean to burst your bubble but: people are talking about things other than N. Korea such as, but not limited to:
1. Canada's politics
2. Belgian politics
3. Iraq
4. Obesity
5. Communism
6. Privacy
7. Freedom of choice in the court of law
8. Abortion
9. Bird Flu
10. Oh and did I forget 3 topics on N.Korea?
I've nothing against you personally bud, but if you want to hear people's reactions on the situation regarding N. Korea, it has been extensively discussed in other topics.

TNT,
This has been talked about in the other posts and is nothing new.
Geography is not a player in this, and N. Korea is not landlocked; it is bordered on the East by the Sea of Japan and in the West by the Yellow sea.
China is taking the lead because during the Japanese invasion of Korea and China that started before WWII (actually this happened in the late 1800s), the Northern part of N. Korea was annexed into what is now China. There is a population of approximately 2 million ethnic Koreans who are Chinese citizens in that area. China fears problems in N. Korea because they fear that they will have an influx of impoverished refugees flooding their country (similar to the issue of Latino immigration in the US). They also do not want to loose the buffer between us and them, and while we have our military there there is a status quo that keeps the peace. China doesn't want to do anything that will disrupt the status quo; it would hurt their economic rise.
We also will not go to war because:
1) There will be massive casualties. 1 Million Koreans in Seoul; and probably about 10,000 American servicement in the first day. This is because the DPRK has a shit load of artillery pieces dug into the moutains North of the South's capital city; these guns are dug in and camoflauged so as to survive American attack. These are capable of firing conventional, chemical and biological shells.
2) The DPRK also has a sizeable military: The KPA (Korean People's Army) has:
1.1 Million regular soldiers
6.6 Million ready reserves and the arms to equip them.
120,000 Spec Ops soldiers, many of which are trained in behind the line sabotague and Chem/Bio warfare. Many of them are already in the South. Their military basically consists of their entire population. A population that has been deprived for decades to go south; and they want war.
3) Our military is spread too thin and would be incapable of effectively containing a Northern invasion. If there is a war; expect a draft.
All of this, my friend, has been talked about in other threads.
AAK

One problem though, the US wont be the only country in the region fighting. China will probably send in troops to keep the NKs from retreating into their territory. Japan and SK will also send troops, as will othr nato countries, and probably russia too.

China definately will send in troops, most likely to ensure a pro-Beijing govt in post-war Pyongyang.
Japan doesn't really have the troops to contribute in any significant way.
SK is just no-duh.
Russia would be highly unlikely. They would deploy troops along their border w/N. Korea; but only to halt the spread of the humanitarian crisis into their country.
Hopefully the US and ROK could count on the support of NATO allies.

I think China is in on it. North Korea is gonna bomb Japan and S. Korea while China holds off Russia. While the American politics sit on their ass for two weeks and talk with the rest of the UN China and North Korea will take whats left of Japan, hold them hostage, and demand enriched uranium so they can further their exploitations. o.O

There won't be a war -- nobody stands to benefit from it. North Korea is an economically crumbling country with extremely few natural resources. Who would want to attack it?

Totally divorced from reality. China does not stand to gain anything from this. Upsetting the balance of power in the region will stall its ascendancy. And most unrealistic is the US has about 30,000 troops in country. The North goes South, America has its dog in the fight automatically...no debate in Washington or NY.

Good idea, that way every country will try to bomb us. We will never nuke NK because:
1. Too close to the ocean, China, South Korea, and other countries.
2. Could cause World War 3.
3. Will make every country pissed off at the USA
4. China will attack us
So we should find a way to just stop NK and not by nuking them.
