Check this out, a school is basicly trying to make everything safer by taking the physical part out of everything. Man I'm glad I'll be out of school in 2 years.
First blood! First topic of 2010!

tch. in virginia, they forbid you to play dodgeball, 'cause it "singles people out"
i say the PE teachers encourage kids to play paintball...in the halls, gym, break room, cafeteria, etc.

If you haven't heared yet, schools in mass have banned tag because kids could trip and fall. Give me a break, kids will be kids. I know that in my gym class experence we havent been allowed to play dodgeball or anything involving contact. Including touch football.

well this is one step closer to doing away with recess, schools try this things all times and usually overruled but this time got thru there was a quote in article from a principal saying recess is prone to accidents which is true yet the injury is an important thing in development as said you cant get anything done with out getting your hands dirty , same here officials need to realise that kids well get hurt at school evutually you can prolong it but impossible to prevent. The taking of kids right to physical play is unjusted the mind is something to work with but the body has to be worked on as well children need physical education to live healy produtive lives need to keep PE in school if not add more

And then they have the cheek to accuse kids of being lazy, having just done away with every form of physical exercise.

They're not trying to make things safer, they're trying to avoid legal liability, which makes sense in a nation as litigious as yours.
Think about it, what this is saying is that you're not allowed to play certain games unsupervised. If they're unsupervised, how is anyone going to know if such games are being played?
It's just a legal loophole to say "If your kids get hurt running around when we weren't watching them, it's their own fault for breaking the rules and you can't sue us."

Pretty soon they'll discover that frequent, rigorous activity can lead to sweating which, if untreated, will lead to dehydration.
Think you're pretty clever...

Time to repeat the slogan (and my sig that's now updated thanks to this news) that will get Rob Williams elected into office in 2008.
"Kids are gonna die. Let them."
Land of the greed, home of the slave.

Oh yes preventing physical activity is SO going to help children stay in shape, live healthy when they get older and avoid heart failure, stroke or respiratory problems when they're even older :D Just look at how healthy this boy is! No physical activity needed! *Psychotic smile* :D:D:D

Why do you think everyone is obese in the nation? Because schools are taking all the fun part of physical activity. Seriously who the hell bans fucking tag?
Alot of topics about school physcial activity seem to be happening in the general
section lately.

Yeah....stupid parents and their ideas will turn kids into 40-year-old virgins once they grow up because with no character to chase someone around, they will not have the character to maybe enlist in the army, yell at their women, and have sex. Kids are supposed to violently kill each other until the strongest survives...oh yeah.
But seriously, it does our society bad because those kids might become important people in the future, and they might not be able to help us because they are too shy because of lack of character

>> That would be cool, like when the college is closed, all the students shoot at each other from the lofts in the library, and stuff. lots of places to hide, and jump out. it'll be cool.

that is stupid, kids need to be kids let them play and get hurt as long as they don't get killed being over protective will just teach them to be afraid of the world.

Just what I was thinking.
Our nation is going to be a nation of fat pansies in a couple of decades.
I played things in school. We played tag, kickball; it was an honor to get a baby tooth knocked out. I've been hit in the head by a dodgeball more times than I can count, and I've never suffered any ill effects any ill effects.
I can only imagine what it will be like when these coddled kids get out in the real world and find people don't bend over backwards just to keep you from getting hurt or hurting your "self-esteem".
You want to build self-esteem? Be the last one on your side in dodgeball, going up against 5 people on the other side, then beat them all. That's how I got mine.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...
