Thank goodness we're not this PC in the US...yet.

A teenage schoolgirl was arrested by police for racism after refusing to sit with a group of Asian students because some of them did not speak English.
Codie Stott's family claim she was forced to spend three-and-a-half hours in a police cell after she was reported by her teachers.
Codie was attending a GCSE science class at Harrop Fold High School in Worsley, Greater Manchester, when the incident happened.
The teenager had not been in school the day before due to a hospital appointment and had missed the start of a project, so the teacher allocated her a group to sit with.
"She said I had to sit there with five Asian pupils," said Codie yesterday.
"Only one could speak English, so she had to tell that one what to do so she could explain in their language. Then she sat me with them and said 'Discuss'."
According to Codie, the five - four boys and a girl - then began talking in a language she didn't understand, thought to be Urdu, so she went to speak to the teacher.
"I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'."
Codie said she went outside to calm down where another teacher found her and, after speaking to her class teacher, put her in isolation for the rest of the day.
A complaint was made to a police officer based full-time at the school, and more than a week after the incident on September 26 she was taken to Swinton police station and placed under arrest.
After questioning on suspicion of committing a section five racial public order offence, her mother Nicola says she was placed in a bare cell for three-and-a-half hours then released without charge.
She only returned to lessons this week and has been put in a different science class.
What should she have done? Stayed in the group and failed, because she couldn't understand what they were saying? Since when is "diversity" more important in school than an actual education?
And why do the Brits think that arresting and/or jailing people for being "racist" somehow alleviates racism? It obviously doesn't.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

But for fucks sake, if the school should take students from another part of the world and have them in their school there for a little time, they should speak english, and more importantly... SHE WASN'T FUCKING RACIST!!! She just asked for changing groups because she couldn't understand them since ONLY ONE person speaks english! What the hell is with the English school?!
And why do the Brits think that arresting and/or jailing people for being "racist" somehow alleviates racism? It obviously doesn't.
I dunno, i guess the Brit Government are clearly fucked up in the head.
Here in Sweden, we don't punish people for just being racist, but expressing racism to the special people they hate will get them into the court. But hell, what the fuck is with asking for changing groups for not understanding them?
Morons.

Because our government is fucked in their collective heads and continue to insist on bending over backwards to appease and avoid offending ethnic minorities.

As far as I can tell, the main difference is that you can not get arrested for it in the US. Many people in the US are trying to equate forcing immigrants to learn English with racially discriminating against them. When we tried to make English the official language, lots of people, especially liberals, called it "racist."

I guess the moral of the story is that there are crazy people everywhere -- especially in Great Britain.

i know you can't incite hate or violence towards certain groups, but since when can you be arrested for simply disliking other ethnic groups (even if that wasn't the case).

That's not right. She just didn't understand them, and she spent 3 days in police custody for "racism"? That really sucks. That teacher shouldn;t have jumped to conclusions like that. It would have been difficult if there was one person to translate for such a large group.
This is proof that life isn't fair.

An NG reg teaches in Manchester?
What should she have done?
Sat down, shut up, and been a good little automaton. Maybe she should've made it her life goal to become a principal and force teachers like her own into the streets because they aren't fit to oversee children.
Stayed in the group and failed, because she couldn't understand what they were saying?
Nope, she should've asserted her capitalist ways and did the project on her own, without asking permission. This would've shown she not only had leadership skills, but could recognize a bullshit situation and remove herself from it without the aid of a moral authority.
Kids these days...
Since when is "diversity" more important in school than an actual education?
Since slimy college students sold the concept to legislators.
And why do the Brits think that arresting and/or jailing people for being "racist" somehow alleviates racism? It obviously doesn't.
Killing people in the name of god alleviates racism faster, I guess.

A better thing for the student to say would have been "My group speaks Urdu and I can't communicate well with them because of that. Is there something we can do about this, could you perhaps put me with another group?"
But anyway, the teacher's reaction was way over-the-line. She should be temporarily suspended from teaching or at least reprimanded in some way for such an unprofessional outburst.

Being a "devout lefty" in the UK isnt the same as it is in the US. For instance, if you get called liberal in the UK, most people just say... uuh, ok? Its not the dirty word it is in the US. But the PC birgade in the UK really piss me off. Its just proof that the entire government doesnt have a clue what its doing with these barmy and moronic laws.

I think I should also add that by American standards, practically everyone in Britain is a lefty! Even the Conservative party is still left of the US Democrats.

Yes, I am a brit
When I was a nipper my there was this new kid in school. We're talking back when I was about 8 here, 12 years ago. So I'm eating lunch and the new kid, looking all lost and new, walks into the dinner hall.
This new kid was obeseand happened to be of ethnic origins. In other words, he was a fat, black kid.
So when I say, and remember I'm 8 here, "Who's the new kid?", no-one knows who I'm talking about. I point and use all of my 8 years of descriptive vocabulary to say "Him, the fat black kid over there." The kid was too far away for him to have heard me, and there were only two of my friends and a teacher at the table.
I was put infront of the Head teacher (read Priciple for the yanks among us) within 30 seconds and excluded from school for a week inside 5 minutes.
My mum, having knowledge of law, kicked up a shit-storm that got into the local papers, succesfully sued for compensation and I never went back to that school again.
And do you know what the Head teacher said in his defense during the court case?
"Yeah, it's a pretty dumb rule, but if I didn't do it I'd be sacked for being rasist myself."
Polical Correctness, it's fucking loony round these parts.

It's funny because I'm considered a lefty, but at least I'm consistent. When I say I support free speech, I don't say "except racist speech".
The only difference I could bend on is people who make actual threats towards races. Like someone going up on a podium and preaching that we should be gearing up to go out and wipe out other races. Other than that, I can give two shits if some white guy doesn't want to associate with other races for whatever reason. Heck it's funny that this happened to Asians because over there, they're more racist than we are. In Japan, they have "Japanese Only" signs in many of their bars and in China the fathers get pretty angry when their daughters marry some white guy.

I always thought it was funny that the Japanese are ratherr fond of using a word that roughly translates to "barbarians" to describe us western foreign devils, but in some places over here that would get a white guy kicked out of his job.

I do find that slightly absurd. Aparently I'm racist too because I don't sit near some of the asians at my work that don't speak english too well and tend to talk to the ones that I can understand.
Wow, I've been racist all this time and didn't know.

I think very few people in the US actually know what the ramifications of an official language are.
Basically, there's no point in declaring an official language if you've only got one.

What the accused child in this case SHOULD have done was go and complain to the teacher that the other kids (the ones who didn't speak English) were being discriminatory towards her by keeping her out of the discussions about the project.
Note: The above is mostly pure evil. The real solution is to make UK more like USA.

What makes you say that. By British standards, the Democrats are center-right, not left.
The conservative party really differs very little from Labour on major issues.

This is gotta be one of the biggest crock of shits I've ever had the misfortune of reading. There's no such thing as a country's politics being either further right or further left than the next. No one with intellectual honesty can tell me prominent democrats like Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Pelosi, Feinstein etc are to center to right when they're the poster childs of socialism.
Don't spout this bullshit about our lefties being centero-right when infact, leftism and rightism are universally comparable. The only difference is the concentration of nuts. For example, I'm pretty sure Randi Rhodes is a far-leftist, while Britain has its fair-share of nuts such as her. The only thing difference is that their happen to be more nuts equivalent to Randi Rhodes in the UK than here. Not that our form of liberalism is semi to their own.
Saying America's left is Europe's center-right only proves you have no idea about international politics.
