What is with these ignorant hollywood movie stars who live in their "way out there" worlds of being pampered and have an actual opinion on this war? How dare they voice their ignorant opinions on this war when they know not half the story of this war in the first place, the sad thing is, is that they are one of the first to be heard because they are so "popular." Any respect I had for edward norton, danny glover, ect. have left. I guess this is when freedom of speech and the right to voice your opinion comes to bite you in the ass.

everyone has the right to voice their opinion. remmember the words of that one guy who's name i can't remmember:
while i do not agree with what you say, i would fight to the death for your right to say it.
i'm not saying that most of these people aren't idiots, but they have a right to be idiots.

Bill Gates: dropped out of college Career: richest man in the universe
Just because these people don't have a high level of education doesn't mean they're dumb. They probably jumped at the opportunity to have a career in acting or singing or whatever, which turned out to be a very SMART move.
That being said, I think they are all pretty dumb.

oh, of course we have to listen to the beautiful people who sing so well because their cause is oh so great. news agencies won't bother asking them questiong because the interview will probably become circular. kind of like this.
"so, you're against the war?"
"yes i am."
"what is it you are exaclty against?"
"i don't want all those innocent iraqi children to die."
"you do know that the US is just looking to attack the Iraqi regime and not the people of Iraq."
"yes, but i believe that there will inevitably be Iraqi children dead because of this."
"you do know that saddam hussein is starving his own people and may have killed more children than the US may ever kill in this campaign."
"yes, but think about the children..."
so on and so on...
unfortunately, actors are usually portrayed as stupid college drop-outs who couldn't do anything else but act. now, don't get me wrong, i appreciate what they do, but i'm afraid that they aren't exactly the authority on things like US foreign policy or war tactics. the arguement is let the people know what they are doing do what they do. and those that don't know can voice their opinions, but it isn't an opinion based on extensive knowledge or experience.

just remmember when you watch a public figure give his opinion on anything, he probably isn't a public figure because of his opinions.

The thing about all those people is not that they dropped out of school, but that their entire careers have been singing and acting. These people don't live in the real world!

The bottom line is, they have no basis for an opinion on politics. They are uneducated, and have no experience in politics or diplomacy. They just want to preserve their public image, they think because they say "omg dont let teh bush0rz kill teh babiez" it makes up for all the cocaine they do.

while that was dripping stereotypes, i see your point. while most of them actually think that way, they have no basis for politics with their chosen career. they are entitled to think, and would be welcome even here on the politics board.

Let's add to this theme the sports world. Tyrone Lew(I guess that's how his name's spelled) was foolishly asked about the war and what's his response. We have our own war against the Wizards to get that 8th playoff spot. Now who's getting paid more than most likely everyone in this forum and how is this fair?
It's a tough world we live in where entertainment pop culture and athletics warp the themes that are the most important in current times.

they're not wrong for saying what they think (reguardless of how wrong what they think is). it's just that people seem to care enough. they are public figures, thus their voices reach farther reguardless of a viable basis.
