Well, we are getting a feed on CNN from local Irawi televisions of a live statement by the Iraqi Progand... I mean, Iraqi Information Minister; he is discussing issues such as civilian casualties, and what the US army/marines are "actually" doing.

This whole press statement is a bunch of bull to try and get citizens to fall back in the hands of Saddam. I am pretty sure this happens in every war (propagandist relations spread word about certain things, be they fake or true)... But this is the only war I have been old enough to follow and understand; so it really annoys me.

He goes on about saying that we have "hijacked civilians", and that 5 allied tanks have been destroyed. Either the Iraqi government is lying to spread propaganda (highly likely), or our government isn't telling us everything.

What do you think of all this (in general)?

Oh but it makes perfect sense... the last place you'd expect Saddam to be making a getaway in would be a taxi car, so it's the perfect thing to use. Everyone knows that.... wait... then it wouldn't be the least expecte..... Okay, not defending the flip-side this time. I'll just stay out.

Another poignant analysis by private no-class.

The media knows their place....they're lying to you. It may be more subtle than the Iraqi attempts but it shapes people's views. Like the idea that they are enforcing a UN resolution. A good example is the amount of flak that France has been recieving, people seem to have forgotten that there were other countries opposing a second resolution.

Well, France was the main one. There were others, but when France says they'll veto the measure when we were on the verge of getting enough votes to pass it, they're the ones who are going to take most of the heat.

I'm not sure how much of what the US media says is true, but I find it much more accurate and reliable than the Iraqi Ministry of Propoganda™.
