Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (which i just recently watched and loved) takes place at Christmas time. Not really Christmas themed, but a fun coincidence

Tokyo Godfathers

^ listen to this guy.

5 Centimeters Per Second is also not really a christmas movie but it is really comfy with a lot of snowy scenes. Also maybe a weird compliment but it has some of the nicest looking backgrounds you will ever see in an animation, guaranteed.

K-on has that christmas episode as well.

Tokyo Godfathers is where its at though, both for actually being very christmas related and for being one of the better anime movies in general.

To this I would add Kids on the Slope, which features jazz, and BECK, about a teenage rock band.

K-On is about a band but it's basically a shallow framing device for moe blobs to fuck around in. I was disappointed the first time watching in seeing how the music is pushed away as an inconsequential background thing for the most part, just don't go in expecting music to be the focus.

Detroit Metal City is on my watchlist, that might be more your thing.

That sounds just like an animated series that I planned on doing

As the sole mecha fan in this thread, I'll take this opportunity to once again recommend an old robot cartoon.

Macross 7 is a series about a ROCK BAND led by a COOL DUDE that controls his TRANSFORMING MECH by SHREDDING on his ELECTRIC GUITAR and defeats ALIEN VAMPIRES with THE POWER OF MUSIC. It's rad.

Defeating alien vampires with music sounds interesting. Will have to check it out.

That's really just a super long AMV with daft punk playing in the background. If you want character development, or anything memorable people already recommended far better choices.

Can probably find Interstella easy enough for free on youtube or whatever(I did years back.) It's worth a watch for people who like the 70's style they went with. But that is pretty much what it is style without substance.

Did some google fu and found out for you.

Show was called "Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō" Mimi was the main character, and it ran for one season before they pulled the plug :(

Sorry for the bad news.

Just saw Akira for the 1st time and I liked it... for the most part. For it's time, it must of been mind blowing and hell the animation still holds up to date, I liked the action scenes, and overall it was a fun watch. But it does get very confusing at times and just kinda messes with the flow for me.

It is very good, even to stands up today. However, the ending always disappoints me.

Pretty alright year though not quite as strong as 2015 was. My list favorites of this year in anime would be...

- (1) My Hero Academia
- (2) Ushio to Tora S2
- (3) Drifters
- (4) Mobile Suit Gundam: IBO S2
- (5) Re:Zero
- (6) Shokugeki no Souma: The 2nd Plate
- (7) GATE: Jieitai Kanochi Nite Kaku Tatakaeri S2
- (8) 91 Days
- (9) Konosuba
- (10) Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2

- Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
- Arslan Senki: Fuujin Ranbu
- Erased
- Alderamin on the Sky
- Izetta: The Last Witch
- Kabnaneri of the Iron Fortress
- Dimension W
- Heavy Object
- Utawarerumono
- Sakamoto Desu ga?
- Kuromukuro
- Twin Star Exorcists

Now they might not be masterpieces but they're all enjoyable to watch depending on one's tastes. To some it might look like a long list but just to put into perspective my 2015 favorites would have twice as many shows.

That reminds me of Black Heaven, except it was about a middle-aged salary man who used to lead a heavy metal band. The opening theme was written and performed by John Sykes, guitarist for Whitesnake.
