So, just about end of the year. What was your Anime of the Year?

It wasn't really a spectacular year, all things considered.

Probably not. Don't actively visit NG anymore. Kinda grew out of the NG scene sadly.
But to all the new kids on the block coming into the anime scene, give the older shows a shot. Learn your roots, the older ones still are some of the best animes you can possibly find. And not just the obvious ones like DBZ and the like.
Try ones like:
Clannad
Trigun
Gun X Sword
Hellsing (both of them)
Black Blood Brothers
Etc.
There's a whole bunch out there, just can't think of them off the top of my head.

We are different people. I didn't cried with Clannad, and almost everybody did. But anyway, glad you liked it.

Yes, Selector Infected WIXOSS. It has two seasons, it's about a cards game. I enjoyed it a lot, and got hooked since the start.

I know i've talked about this before but now it's a bit different, I've noticed that the anime gets a lot better after the fourth episode as it gets more shocking and more unpredictable and the way every student is found dead is just amazing *SPOILERS* Though the fact that Fujisaki was a trap creeps me out... And the fact that fukawa was genocider sho was really weird.

I've seen that anime already. It's probably my favorite detective anime right now (although I haven't seen a lot). My favorite character has to be Kyouko. The show wouldn't have been as great without her.

Just chillin' like always.

Toonami was an One Piece marathon tonight. Not the worst way to spend a night.

I imagine he means it's better than a Parasyte marathon, but not as good as new episodes.
Speaking of new, or at least different, Toonami is bringing back Samurai Champloo next week to replace Michiko & Hatchin.

Oh, you're up to the current arc in One Piece, nice. But have you watched One Piece dubbed? It nearly destroys the personality of most of the characters. Also, a One Piece marathon, that ain't a bad way to spend a night at all, but if it's dubbed it isn't the best experience. But hey, it's still One Piece.

Is Parasyte dubbed any good? I watched the whole anime subbed.

Elfen Lied is bad shit and only gets worse from there. Throw on everyone's favourite anime Neon Genesis Evangelion instead of you haven't seen it.

I did enjoy this anime, but i feel as though your right when you say there is much useless violence. This seems cringy in a way so as to attract younger viewers with bad-for-no-reason material.

You never know what they will do next. Just happen for new episodes after the six weeks or so of repeats.

I'm late to the party here. I only ever heard great things about Elfin so I expected real fall out from the bash on it. Glad I never got around to it no from what was said because it really wasn't my cup of tea. Even as a teen, I always though random needless nudity was just a lure for me and the rest of my demographic and really cheapen the experience for me.

A series I loved on IFC channel was Speed Grapher. Here's trailer vid below, but essentially the gist of it is a war photographer turned reported finds his way into a seedy underground sex club for the ultra- rich and elite. When there He interrupts a ritual where a "goddess" is supposed to be bestowing a man with powers and instead, the reporter gains them. The powers gained are directly tied to "what the host wants most in their heart" so plenty of diverse enemies show up through the series. Good violence, not overly sexed up (especially considering how ther series starts in an underground sex club)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFFmMojsg_s

And when in doubt, always Evangelion. Though, it gets a bit too sureal in a few fillery episodes. A series I liked recently which is a nice half way point between Evangelion and the Xenosaga games, is Knights of Sidonia. Think it's a netflix exclusive. Season 1 was better, but there are 2 seasons available.

Here's the opening for season 2, I found it more exciting than the official trailers:

Which one did you watch? Normal or Ultimate?
Because i've only watched Ultimate so i can't vouch for the normal anime although i've heard it's alright so i may give it a chance in the near future.

I recommend you watch it, The first episode was awesome.

Oh bro, you can watch Ultimate without watching the normal series, the story is pretty much the same as far as i know. Only difference is there's more violence, gothic themes and each episode is around 1 or so hours long.
I'll give the regular version a shot sometime, though.
