I've been wanting some new anime to add to my watch list.

I saw the first episode, and I love it.
But there's a problem: I can never own any of the soundtrack! It's all on Columbia!

Watched Gundam F 91. Pretty good but it moves really fast. One minute Seabook doesn't know anything about the F 91 and the next he shoots down two MS and cripples one like it was a small challenge. Thankfully there wasn't much death and despair and more reunions and love. It's about time Tomino!

The F 91 is rather unique in which it uses psycomu waves and has different radars than the gundams in the time line at that point. It goes into a super mode of sorts which increases it's output and speed multi-fold in which it creates a after image of it's self. Shame it was only a movie but it was still pretty good. Definitely worth the two hour run time.

Sorry, I may have gotten club rules mixed up; some of the other crews/clubs I'm involved in have minimum post requirements.

It's cool, just making sure.

Hahaha, that's just retarded. Well over half of the users we've had were HORRIBLE posters when they first started and they turned into awesome people. A user can have 100 posts and still have terrible grammar and sentence structure making no progress whatsoever.

I remember when this club had a member list. It was much more active back then.

I always got excited every time I signed up to this club when my name turned up on the list. My old name isn't on that list, though. Perhaps it stopped being updated during one of my many extended leaves.

I miss having an avatar for every member of the club, though. It really gave the club some character. Oh god, I only just realised what a terrible pun that was after I typed it.

Well seeing how I last updated that list in '07 and you joined in '09...

Or someone else picked it up and made one of their own.

Yeah, I wish it was a series or movie trilogy at best. That part of the UC timeline was pretty interesting, but there wasn't a whole lot done with it. Aside from the sidestory stuff.

I can honestly say that the battles are the best part of the movie, very well done. I agree that it was ridiculous that Seabook turned ace out of no where, but damn was the F91 a powerful mofo. Will have to re-watch the film another time.

I agree with you on that one. Trilogy would work the best since it was right after ZZ and before V. Tomino would've probably killed the quality with QUALITY if he did do a series.

The final battle with Iron Helmet was pretty bad ass I gotta say. Seabook pulled that fight out of his ass with the help from F91 which yeah, was ridiculous. Shame we didn't get to see what it could fully do with just one movie. I'll have to check into seeing if there is a manga or a book on it. I know they did a manga for V but it's not translated. The one for After War X has a few but a small handful are translated. Guess I better get started with Rosetta Stone sometime soon. :/

There was always discussion of shitty anime. Especially during that time. I remember when I first joined and the club was in full swing (I believe I probably chose some Ghibli character as my avatar), enough praise was given to Inuyasha that I even checked out the first DVD of it (I couldn't see what was so great about it).

Of course as the club grew more elitist and the members dwindled to a few with some very select taste who chided those who would call themselves fans when they hadn't strayed outside of primetime Cartoon Network, the discussion diminished a little. But it was always there. People would always come in and start up small conversations about Naruto and Bleach and whatever else people like, with whoever else didn't understand the workings of the club.

Of course that's not really any different now. Those people who come into the club proclaiming their undying devotion to some uncultured, godless mess very rarely make more than one or two posts before leaving once they realise that nobody shares their interests.

haha, thanks man. I remember the first time we ever talked was through a pm. Wasn't the most pleasant one, but it's pretty funny looking back.

Lot of things happened in my life during that timespan, but there were still some fond memories. You ever look back and wonder to yourself "God why did I act like that"?

I agree with you on that one. Trilogy would work the best since it was right after ZZ and before V. Tomino would've probably killed the quality with QUALITY if he did do a series.

Now that you mention it, that probably would be the case. And not only that, it would have been nice to have a trilogy for a change instead of another 50 episode series. 3 would have been perfect because three 2 and a half hour films would be enough to have a good plot without too much pacing or filler.

The final battle with Iron Helmet was pretty bad ass I gotta say. Seabook pulled that fight out of his ass with the help from F91 which yeah, was ridiculous. You haven't read Crossbone Gundam yet? Personally I'd like to read that because the whole premise is about a pirate Gundam, and that's pretty badass. Shame a lot of the manga side stories are terribly obscure and not translated, from all we know we're missing out on some real gems. Another one I would have liked to check out one day was Hathaway's Flash. Which chronicles the events of Hathaway forming a terrorist group known as Mafty. That one looks pretty good because it also sheds more light on Brights character and what happened to him after the events of CCA.

What's Rosetta Stone about?

Also, just got the streaming disc from netflix. So now I can stream crap through my tv, isn't that just awesome? Will use the chance to browse through the anime selection. Started up the R.O.D. OVA when I saw it, and man, so far it's still pretty good after all these years. When I first saw it I was iffy about it because I wasn't used to such an odd concept and plot. But it's great fun with some cool jazz in the mix.

Ha, sounds about right. Inuyasha was good at the start but it just got dragged out too much. Rumiko does that with too many of her series. Two seasons, three at the max should be her limit. Not fucking nine or however many it was. Final Act though isn't all that bad. Good quality and it's moving rather quickly instead of taking three episodes it takes about one if not less to cover what story there is left that she's re-telling.

Of course that's not really any different now. Those people who come into the club proclaiming their undying devotion to some uncultured, godless mess very rarely make more than one or two posts before leaving once they realise that nobody shares their interests.

True. Some of us do enjoy, or at one point did, the series that they list. I think they are just getting into anime and haven't ventured out into other series that they wouldn't normally watch. I thought Ouran Host Club was gonna be a total shit fest but in turn fell in love with the series.

A month back I went through all of my posts to find old sigs I made and that were made for me. I could've killed myself with my depression and embarrassment from all of my old posts. ESPECIALLY the first handful I made in this club. Wonko knows them best hahaha.

I've read the first book of Crossbone and that's it. :/ At the time the rest were either japanese or poorly translated. Not to mention they were broken up in parts as well. It is a cool concept though. I can't help but think that the Crossbone in F 91 and the manga are related. But I'd have to READ Crossbone to find that out myself. I think Hathaway's Flash will be somewhat tied into Unicorn. Unicorn is the last or say 'latest' series to actually feature Amuro and Char in the series. Guess we'll have to wait until the OVAs come out for it. I don't know if Bright will be in it but it would be awesome if he was. Gonna have to re-watch CCA sometime soon. Been far too long since I last saw it and that was when Adult Swim went off the air on Saturday nights YEARS back.

Had a 2 liter of dr pepper, half a pack of smokes and some cheese popcorn. Those were the GOOD days for me.

What's Rosetta Stone about?

I'm sure you've seen the commercials for them if you watch t.v. They help you learn another language. A buddy of mine has the full japanese set and said he'd give it to me. Said he had to brush up on his since he doesn't stay in contact with too many people who speak and write it anymore.

Also, just got the streaming disc from netflix. So now I can stream crap through my tv, isn't that just awesome? Will use the chance to browse through the anime selection. Started up the R.O.D. haha, browsing through old post are the best. Mine were pretty dumb, but I admire my naivete, looking back. Now I'm just another jaded fag. Do you have a collection of your sigs by chance? I remember you've made some before, and I liked 'em.

PS. DU U LIKE MYN DOG

I've read the first book of Crossbone and that's it. :/ At the time the rest were either japanese or poorly translated. Not to mention they were broken up in parts as well. I hear Crossbones style is almost like something Tezuka would have made, very cartoonish. I don't know if Amuro's going to be in it, from what it looked like at the end of CCA, he died. But then again, apparently Char survived, which I think is a serious cop-out if both turned out to have lived :/ CCA was supposed to conclude the rivalry between the two, and end the chapter in that part of the Gundam universe.

But I'm thinking if Unicorn becomes a critical and commercial success, that maybe we'll be seeing more UC materal, Hathaway's Flash or the rest of the F91 era could always be likely candidates if that's the case.

Had a 2 liter of dr pepper, half a pack of smokes and some cheese popcorn. Those were the GOOD days for me.

I hope you didn't have a smoke right after eating that cheese popcorn, that'd be one weird aftertaste. I remember CCA being played that night, really confused me because I thought it was a direct sequel to the 0079 series, really don't know why they aired it in the first place since Zeta wasn't even shown. So the story would have been utterly lost on just about everyone.

I'm sure you've seen the commercials for them if you watch t.v.

I don't, so yeah..

Nice! I remember watching that when Adult Swim was good and aired good stuff like that. Another one I need to re-watch some day.

It's a serious suggestion, that and the R.O.D. tv series that followed a bit later. The tv series in particular is absolutely amazing.

Also started on the 1980's Astroboy series; It has it's moments and watching a classic never hurts. The english dub of it is pretty hilariously bad as well. It'll be interesting because I've never really watched or read the Astro Boy series, I've always been more of a Black Jack fan when it comes to Tezuka series.

In other unrelated news, there is no Anime on Finnish TV. Ever.

Except some films every now and then, but still pretty damn rarely. I was lucky to catch Tokyo Godfathers last christmas.

Canada aswell if you don't have specialty channels of whatever. The only anime I've seen in recent years that's good is Akira. Ironically enough, as soon as I started watching Pretty Cure and started to like it, YTV decides not to show it. Fuck, i'd rather watch Pretty Cure in English with it's horrible English theme than watch Bleach or Naruto in any language.

Yeah, Teletoon seems to show that a lot. It's nice to see that it's completely uncensored, unlike most American TV channels.

It sucks that the only anime on TV is generic garbage. I really wish YTV would start showing some better series, then I woud actually have a reason to watch TV again.

Sorry to intrude, I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Most of you guys seem to know what you are talking about so I feel it's best to ask your club. I'm trying to find some new Anime shows or movies that are good. I wanted to get some suggestions. Here are some of my preferences and shows I already own.

I only watch already translated [dubbed] Anime. I try to get complete box sets to save having to get all the separate volumes. I hate "high school" genre Anime and anything Dragon Ball related. I guess what I like is a good story, an actual plot or overall goal. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful.

I own ALL the Slayers seasons, OVA's, Games, and Movie. I look forward to Revolution.
I have the original Neon Genisis Evangelion, Death & Rebirth, and End of Eva.
Miyazaki dubbs, Cat Returns, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki Delivery, Tortoro, and Mononoke.
Vision of Escaflowne, and the movie.

How can you possibly interrupt anything? This is a bulletin board system.

I wanted to get some suggestions.

Here's a few.

Series:
Cowboy Bebop
Paranoia Agent
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Mushi-shi
Last Exile
Ergo Proxy
Black Lagoon
Hellsing (OVA)
Samurai Champloo
Kure-nai

Films:
Ghost in the Shell
Paprika
Millennium Actress
Perfect Blue
TekkonKinkreet
The Place Promised In Our Early Days
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Grave of the Fireflies
Akira
Metropolis
Whisper of the Heart

Woah, that was way more suggestions than I was planning on giving.

When you fall, get right back up.

R.O.D the TV
Anything Lupin The Third(Castle of Cagliostro and The Mystery of Mamo specifically)
Black Jack(OVA series)

If you want something plot driven, I highly suggest Mobile Suit Gundam(Yes, the 1979 original series. But to make it easier for you, watch the movie trilogy instead.), then move on to Zeta Gundam, those will be some of the best series you have ever seen. Or, if you want something stand alone, I'm watching Turn A Gundam at the moment. You don't need to see any other Gundam series to follow it, and it's very character/plot driven.

Darker Than Black and Baccano! are also good shows.

I figured as it was a "club" I would be polite. I was unsure whether open comments were welcome.

Cowboy Bebop

I've seen a few episodes, I'll check it out.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

I have the movie, did not know there was a show, Thanks.

Hellsing (OVA)

I totally forgot about that one, defiantly buying.

Thank you so much.

I'm sorry, but I would die of laughter if I ever saw someone wearing that in real life. Sure, Akira was a fucking awesome movie, but that doesn't stop that jacket from looking retarded.

I know it isn't exactly anime but...
I'm playing a little catchup and watching the Sailor Moon musicals now.
What does everyone else think of them?
