I didn't see it as a very tragic film, nothing really sad about it or anything. If you want a tragic Studio Ghibli film than go watch Grave of The Fireflies.

I'm torrenting it anyway. Great movie, and any of you guys heard of/ have watched Interstella 5555?

Some of it a few years ago, I used to like Daft Punk back then but not anymore, I don't see myself ever watching it again.

Rewatching Escaflowne, and the show's aged pretty well.

Not like it's hard, though, given the dire state of both fantasy and mech shows.

On one hand, I want to see it, because I would think it's a very beautiful movie.

On the other hand, I know the ending is gonna be sad as hell (I don't know the specifics, but an anime movie set in end of WWII in Japan? I can hazard a guess), and I hate downer endings.

Yeah, it's hard to overstate how sad the ending is.

It's obviously an incredibly sad with a downer ending. But it's worth a watch, it's one of those things that you only need to see once or twice in your life.

Just give it a try.

god, I was reading Nana volume 8, and just from reading it, I felt utter despair.

I don't know if it's linked to my weird feelings that I've been getting today. Or mebbe that certain things happened in that volume that, to a certain point, hit me like a brick.

ughhh.

Well, I thought it wold be one of those seriously happy films about magic or something.

Some of it a few years ago, I used to like Daft Punk back then but not anymore, I don't see myself ever watching it again.

It gets boring, but it's great to watch when you have absolutely NOTHING to do.

I had a dream last night that I was back in high school, and I don't know if this was like an actual event that happened at dream version of high school, or if we were watching something in what would amount to my grade 12 french classroom, but Guts had somehow caught on fire and was screaming and everything, and then he kind of melted and lost part of his skull and a few fingers, and sort of looked like a cheap-ass version of Clayface from Batman.

I felt the need to draw it out, so imagine this, plus the fact that it was like 1000x times creepier. And looked a bit more like Guts.

You can start by listing your five favourite series. There are no wrong awnsers, except Naruto and Bleach. And Elfen Lied, depending who's patrolling.

Severely overrated.

Well animated and a few fine episodes, but not particularly funny or remotely smart.

Found it boring, not funny and a waste of time watching. Barely anyone in the show is likable and Haruhi herself is loud, obnoxious and annoying.

Awesome, glad I avoided it completely then.

I finished Escaflowne today, have to say, it's one of the best animes ever. I'm not kidding, I think it truly does deserve such a title.

If you haven't seen yet than by all means do so.

Currently re-watching my Black Jack OVA's for a second time. Can't get enough of that doctor I tell you. Reminds that I need to continue back on 21 and finish it.

Yes, Haruhi is more or less a physical god (or timewarp, or autoevolution), her unconsious powers make everything go like she wants it, but like any real person, what they want and what they need aren't the same thing, and she's just constantly angry, because there's no satisfaction in things just going the way she wants without having to do anything. She's basicaly a spoiled brat who just spoiled herself, without knowing it. I think there's something pretty deep, there.

Similary, Kyon (who, by the way, is the actual protagonist of the series) is an ungrateful cynic, and I think he's a Deconstruction of the First Person Smartass Deadpan Snarker archtype.

seems like I can't make a post about any show without refrencing TV tropes any more...

Hahaha, deep in a moe~ comedy.

I've read about three of the light novels, all the God stuff is really shallow and badly handled. Haruhi is a pretentious trainwreck in the storytelling department.

And even if it was deep and meaningful, I still wouldn't be too fond of having an obnoxious bitch being at the forefront of my silly comedy show.

I watched it well over a year ago.

And I never really did consider it to be very intellectual, nor did I find Haruhi particularly appealing.

Maybe if you posted more than once a century you'd know this.

Hah, intellectual.

The series is pretty silly and ridiculous overall.

I wouldn't watch the thing because I thought the idea of a teenage God was thought provoking. I watched it because I thought it was funny, and entertaining.

I enjoyed it, in any case.

Found out one of the delivery guys that drops off muffins and loaves at work has a huge collection of anime on his computer--he was like "HEY COOL ANIME CHARACTER!".

He was a pretty chill guy beforehand, but now he's like super awesomesauce.

Funny thing is Geass doesn't seem to have caught on in Canada.

None of the TV stations air it, haven't seen the DVDs in stores and nobody but the fags in my English class talks about it.

Hell, even the hardcore Wapanese types who cosplay and watch Naruto don't seem to care about it.
