Disgaea is fucking addicting. I've been playing the second game all weekend and I've gotten close to the final boss.

Anybody here heard of or seen Space Adventure Cobra? It was a space opera from 1982 that was adapted into a serial format a year later. I think the only dub that exists is the stupid OVA made years later, but I don't think any American company has snatched the property - Which is an unspeakable crime because everyone is missing out on this gem. If you love tits, epic adventure, and tits - go check that shit out on BakaBT or something.

I think I can vaguely remember seeing something like this about 5 years ago from a friend. My best bet on the reason why it never got dubbed is because back then, there wasn't good dub companies like Funimation, Bandai Ent., etc. and dub companies in the 80's would have wrecked the hell out of it, making it into a whole different show altogether.

Wrong.

The 1982 film version was released in English in the 90's, and the tv show was licensed by Urban Vision Entertainment as well.

It's a coming of age story about self-improvement, and a tribute to all things SR/Mecha, including it's tropes and cliches. It was clear from the start that Simon relied too much on Kamina to save his own hide, he never would have been able to step out of his shadow if that never happened.

If he lived, Simon would have most likely continued to be a timid coward.

There's actually some people who thinks Simon should have died. It's pretty messed up when you think about it.

Those who stopped watching episode 8 missed out the best part of the series in the second half.

Kamina's a stubborn guy -- but he's still likable in my eyes.

Simon is a much better character, though. Kamina was just motivation for Simon to get shit done.

Being that he has a huge fan base, I wonder if they'll realize that his spiral energy level's among the lowest.

He is a likable character and was epic but I'm sure many have figured the main hero would be Simon from the start.

Hmm i seem to have forgotten ucancallmejesus's password but this is me. Watched Planetes ; It was a okay show. Nothing special about the animation quality or style. Kinda typical story line. You can predict almost everything that happens. Probably won't rewatch again but its worth watching if your bored and cant come up with anything better.

KIttan's my favorite character of the series nonetheless -- Viral was also awesome.

The former's heroic sacrifice was fucking sad. ;_;

Kamina is a crutch character, awesome and crazy yes, but he's two dimensional and a one trick pony.

Viral, Kittan, and Simon are way better characters.

Kamina was designed to be a 2 dimensional character, even with that, he did have his moments and some quoteable lines. I guess you could say Kamina was a throwback to the days were men were men, and not emo wusses like Shinji from Eva.

Simon is a much better character, though. Kamina was just motivation for Simon to get shit done.

As I said before, Kamina was the foundation, but Simon and co. made the story what it is. And I find it kinda weird that everyone is talking about Gurren Laggan, and no one mentioned Yoko yet, just saying.

Agreed.

Yoko's a slut, by the way, and Rossiu wasn't really that bad even though he almost executed Simon.

Rossiu wasn't that bad of a guy early on, but by the second half, he became an power mad prick, and that's when I started hating him. Hell, it took an interdimensional bitchslap from Simon to finally set Rossiu straight.

i thought they were just condensed versions of the series, with a bit of extra shit at the end or something

Yoko might have acknowledged that too, hence the reason why she aged poorly after the final time skip at the ending. It's true that everyone grows old eventually but she didn't look anything like someone in her 40s, more like 60s.

Seeing that stress can cause people to age faster, one can understand why. WOuldn't be surprised if she have Linkin Park records stashed in her home...

So has anyone seen the previews for Cat Shit One? It's a new CGI anime series featuring anthro bunnies. :P Based of the manga, Apocalypse Meow.

Really, it's cooler than it seems. Plenty of violent action, too. Read about it in Otaku magazine, and had to see it for myself.

I've had the manga sitting on my laptop for a while. Maybe I'll check it out.

Love anime, I've been watching it for about ten years now. Currently watching Trinity Blood, Gunslinger Girl. Also love me my hentai, I actually prefer it over real pornography. Gonna check out beserker next.

Sometime after the said scene when all the characters (except for dead Kittan) get to pilot those dead Laganns they found in the abyss.

Nia also get to have her own mecha as well and she's quite an exhibitionist.

Also Yoko's mecha has missile jubblies.
