What with being rather indifferent towards the one and a half seasons I watched.

A well-meaning, but stupid, friend got it for me.
Oh well, he saved me $40.

You'd probably despise it.
It's about fifty percent filler, fifty percent goddamned stupid multi-part stories that go nowhere.
I think the writing staff must have done a lot of inhalants before writing this shit. The characterisations are inaccurate as Hell.
Plus the already so-so animation takes a huge dive in quality.

You know, I wonder how you can consider Ranma 1/2 to be the best anime ever when there is apparently such a terrible... Quarter, or half of the series.
I tend to like short shows more than long shows. Doesn't give them a chance to go downhill (well, sometimes).

A good chunk of that is pure nostalgia value (it was the first manga I ever read, and I've consistently enjoyed it for like eight years), another chunk is really fucking loving the parts that don't suck (first two seasons, about 12 episodes of season three and pretty much everything past season six minus the BAD END).
As much as I've seen shows that are much more consistent, I've never really seen too much that I've enjoyed as much or more.
Cowboy Bebop comes really, really close, though. As does the good parts of Lupin III.
But yeah, despite a pretty big stretch of being utter shite, I cannot deny that I find the series insanely entertaining.

I should watch Lupin III.
However, I watched the first 5 minutes of the first episode of the first series of it, and the terrible animation and voice acting really put me off it.

The first series is indeed hard on the eyes, but the payoff is the plot. Plus, Miyazaki takes over directing halfway through and shit gets less ugly.
The second one is much better looking and a Hell of a lot funnier, but it drags a bit too long and the story sorta fizzles after about three episodes.

I know I've defended my whole not liking series for their good animation thing.
But I'm much quicker to dislike a series due to its bad animation.

Isao Takahata gets no love from Gendo.

This is not giving me good hope for Lupin.

Well it is 155 episodes, and there's little in the way of continuity.
But I can guarantee out of the first 80 episodes (as far as I've been since I watched it on TV), there is hardly a wasted minute.

Great, so I can just give up whenever I want.
And then be treated to no ending.

There will never be an ending.
Since there's a shit third season, about ten billion OVAs (including one released quite recently), TV specials and theatrical films.
Plus, there aren't many conclusive ways it could end.

Argh.
This has entirely put me off bothering with the series.
I'll just watch Kaiji next time I feel like starting a new series.

Yep, can't even fucKING QUOTE GOD DAMN IT! That and I have limited space too...
Gagsy - Try anything by Peach Pit. Rozen Maiden was a great anime and the manga is good too. I'm enjoying Zombie Loan[manga] so far as well. Love Hina, A.I. Love You, Under The Glass Moon are the others I know of and enjoy.
With the characters thing, go for them I say. I'm keeping Domon, fuck you. :D
Although we don't really have authority figures anymore.[Well, I'm guessing Wonko is still staying with Mendou as the head in his steed]I can say that at least both of them along with you as well Kuro and Gendo too are more or less that. Sir Trivia is one as well, no arguing. Can't call myself one since I'm not around much but GOD DAMN I miss this place.
Happy 1.8k pages!

Yeah, I didn't like the ending very much, and on the preview for the next Season it shows Lucy as Nyuu again

I tried to watch that movie recently, but the disc was screwy. I'm going to see if I can clean it and get it to play. If not, I'll have to wait for Netflix to send me a different copy.
Also, I will be seeing Tokyo Godfathers soon (finally).

Dang, we just had a Ranma debate and I wasn't here? Well, about 1/4 of the anime sucks, true. But the first two seasons are godly, and the 6 and 7th season rock as well. The anime does not come close to the manga though, which I read more than I watch the anime. And also, the manga has a less crappy ending than the manga.
I really do hope that Takahashi does do something with Ranma though, maybe make a movie based on the manga ending?(Hey, they made a UY movie 10 years after it ended, so perhaps she'll do it? Nah, most likely not, too busy being rich off a shonen piece of crap)
Anyways, I just beat GTA IV, and I am dying for it to be august so I can get the expansion pack. Though I wonder how the missions will go, will they vary based on which ending you chose?

I felt 3 was far superior to 6.
6's big failing was introducing Gosunkugi....long after any remotely good stories involving him occured. Plus, the changes in the art style were sort of irksome.
But that said, 3 was were filler Hell began.

Yeah, the very end of season three makes it bitter, the art sucked, the fillers did not even try to be special(Unlike season one's fillers, which were actually good), and the plot gets fucked up, with different arcs being released at different times.

The very beginning of season four is the worst part of the show.
Coincidence, or destiny?
the art sucked
Yeah, which was odd given that the first few episodes of the season had really fucking great animation.
Sure, it was all of five seconds long, but that Ryoga/Ukyo fight looked fucking great for low-budget 90s anime.

Think of all the other great shows that don't get nearly as much discussion as Ranma 1/2 (I say 'other', despite the fact that I find the show rather mediocre).
