=============
Enable or install a firewall
If you do not run a firewall, download one. This also applies to using Microsoft's built-in firewall with Windows XP SP2. The problem with the built-in firewall is that it only monitors what tries to get in, anything that is already in your system, can dial out. So if you have a Trojan that steals passwords, the passwords can be sent out... Of course this can also happen to your financial data. So a, so called, one-way firewall is not good! Use a good firewall like ZoneAlarm
Enable or Install an AntiVirus
Only an anti-virus scanner can protect you against new viruses. AVG Free will offer you the protection you need at no cost.
=============
Download HijackThis!
Please do not open HJT from a tempory folder
1. Right click in an empty space on your desktop.
2. From the Menu, click New then Folder and a folder will appear on your desktop.
3. Name the folder HJT
4. Copy/Paste your current copy of HijackThis from its present location to the folder on your Desktop that was just created.
How to use
*After unzipping, double click the icon
*Several options will come up, you need to click “Do system scan and save a log file"
*After this has completed, you will see a list of what appears to be complete and utter nonsense in Notepad.
*E-MAIL me the txt file (File -> save as -> HJT log)
*Wait patiently for me to post here what to delete.
*Done

There are several possible reasons why this is happening:
1) Your hardware acceleration is turned up too high. Reduce it.
Right click desktop > Settings tab > Click the advanced button (This will open up your cards control centre) > Open the "troubleshoot" tab > Reduce the "Hardware Acceleration" slider > OK
2) You have defective RAM.
If you have just installed new RAM, or have had your RAM for a few years, this can seriously degrade your graphics card. The video card uses a portion of the RAM for its display. Bad memory will give it all the troubles. All you have to do is remove the defective memory and your machine will be up and running, albeit with lower memory.
(Guide on installing/uninstalling RAM)
3) Your Graphics Card is buggered.
Sometimes hardware just gets old, and in this case, it's more than likely your graphics card. To make sure, pop open your case and try to find another card to replace it just to check.

May I ask what kind of sound software you are using?
Then check if you have a virus or adware (i doubt it)
Finally tell me when this started to happen

Try system restore to and earlier date
(and just to be through)
Before this started did you install anything onto your computer (i.e. anything that WASNT verfied by Microsoft (not that ALL of them are bad)) because programs might interfere with one another if it does not meet the standards
well lets see... there was this link in a sig that had illeagal stuff on it.

well if u downloaded/installed it, uninstall it/delete it.
Did u try system restore to a time BEFORE when this started?
When I lower the hardware acceleration, everything about my computer is fine. However, my games still have that annoying displacement of lines all over the place.

Maybe your computer cant handle the game? Is your video card up to date?

Yes it can, my computer used to be able to play ALL my games before, and it still can, just with annoying lines in the way.
But anyway, I have recently encountered a problem on my OTHER older computer. Which really is just pissing me off to no end. It seems that all games that are "3D" display images that get garbled and messed up. My old computer was able to play Age of Mythology before, and now it can't display some important images during gameplay.
I tested direct 3D acceleration in dxdiag and I had failed one of the tests which was for Direct3D 7 interfaces. 8 & 9 interfaces were fine.
Check out this screen I took of a game of Age of Mythology on my older computer which I used to play Age of Mythology on ALL the time. The image during gameplay isn't frozen either, shadows and other figures are dancing around constantly for a good seizure evoking sight.

I'm not sure of a manual option to make this happen, but I wondering if it's possible to block even those pesky ads.
I have the latest version of FF and Windows XP. Hope you could help.
Actually Adblock only blocks video and sound, not pop-up windows. However, there is another plugin, called "no script" which prevents pop-ups that use java to bypass your blocker from springing up. You have to know which sites to allow/disallow though.

You may not have the right codecs installed. You'll find all that you need here, for free:
Also, make sure that the account has full administrative privileges when installing them.

"Simple isn't when you O.O.D. principles."
Ok, the post I posted was messed a bit up.
Here's my problem (OMG backstory lol)
I suffed around the internet. Suddenly, I hit (by a mistake (YES IT WAS A MISTAKE (really it was))) a link that goes for a freaking hentai page. Auto download, blablabla, and I end up whit spyware. Then, my sister shuts down the computer (IT IS TRUE!).
Ok, got that?
anyway, a wierd thing happened. I couldn't log on. I have had spyware once before, but I could log on there.
Anyway the only thing to do was to reinstall the entire computer (awww).
Now, I got two problems (I havn't found any other problems... yet)
1: Something wrong whit my sound. My speakers works well. I can play music whit Media Player and I can listen to music on the internet. But I can't hear anything in games, or flash.
2: Usually problem. my internet is hell slow, also, sometimes it doesn't even work (some times? almost all times!).
Any advices?
and yes, I was on that K-lite codec pack thing. but it seems a little... messed to me...
thanks - ShadowCrush

Yo, yo.
Go back to the codec pack site, it's not as messy as it appears, try again. I have given you a direct link to the codecs you need, all you have to do is download them and execute the exe. Easy as that. Direct link to K-lite codec pack.
I can't imagine it being a problem with your soundcard or drivers if you can still hear sound through other Windows devices. So get downloading those them codecs there. ;-)
In the unlikely event it is an issue with drivers. You can download sound drivers at http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/
Perhaps there might be a problem with the current drivers installed, check the following
Start > Run > Type "devmgmt.msc" > Click on the + [plus] sign "Sound, video and game controllers"> Make sure that there are know little yellow circles with "?" [Question marks] next to the sound devices
If there are, it's a problem with your drivers.
Right click on the sound card > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall
Download new ones from the link I gave above (Or right click the device and press "update drivers"). Remember to note down your soundcards name and make.
It could be as simple as you've got the sound muted: (Very unlikely)
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double click on the Sounds and Audio devices icon > In the "Volume" tab press "Advance" (mid-way down) > You will now be faced with all the sound outputs > Make sure all of them set high and that the "Mute" box hasn't be checked (ticked)
2: Usually problem. my internet is hell slow, also, sometimes it doesn't even work (some times? almost all times!).
What speed is your internet usually? Give it a quick test at C-net.
It's possible the your network adapter drivers are old, and need to be updated. To do this, follow the following instructions:
Start > Run > Type "devmgmt.msc" > Click on the + [plus] sign "Network Adapters"> Update all your newwork devices by right clicking it and pressing "update drivers"

I've figured out that there's something crazy going on. i CAN actually hear the sound/audio when I'm wachting or playin' a flash, and probably also when I'm playin' a game. but sometimes, I can't hear anything, not even in media player. NOTHING ABSOLUTELY! (spelled right?)

you want me to download all of them? there's... let me see... 9 downloads... wouldn't the full pack be enourgh?
Start > Run > Type "devmgmt.msc" > Click on the + [plus] sign "Sound, video and game controllers"> Make sure that there are know little yellow circles with "?" [Question marks] next to the sound devices
I guess you mean a "!" mark... anyway, no, there's no such marks.
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double click on the Sounds and Audio devices icon > In the "Volume" tab press "Advance" (mid-way down) > You will now be faced with all the sound outputs > Make sure all of them set high and that the "Mute" box hasn't be checked (ticked)
ok this is the crazy part. The speakers work well sometimes, as I've said before. but when I go there, it says that there IS NO SPEAKERS INSTALLED!!!

It didn't worked. it says I already got the best. but my internet still doesn't works sometimes.
Also, I got problems whit installing games...
AWWW MAN!!! :(
