People are too goddamn soft 2003-03-21 15:19:56 Reply

Well anyways, during school today I said something like "Our school is too boring. It would be interesting if their was a riot and people got hurt or something like that." The person next to me took offence to the comment and began freaking out threatening to tell the office. I explained how I was joking around but they kept on ranting about it. "It doesn't matter, you could still be expelled." I started to explain how what I said was a false opinion of my own, not a threat in anyway but they didn't give up. I'm hoping that they didn't report it because our school board like any other is also 'soft'. Any message that could be considered a threat has to be dealt with. Well fuck you, it was a few simple words for a few simple laughs (btw: I was talking to my friend when I said this, the other person just happened to "over hear" what I had said). They are actually willing to throw away my academic career because of my attempt at humoring my friend. And everybody knows the drill, if you don't do well in school you can't get into a good college and then end up working in a fast food restaurant. Fuck school, school supports poverty with the way they waste 'bad students' rather than trying to support them.

Sorry, Zilla, you got the shaft on that one. I feel for you on the issue of people be so, so , SO, damned prissy about being "offended".
"Ooo I'm offended! Ban it! Burn it! Get it off the air!"
Ther was a mechanic at one of my old jobs who was talking to his co-worker, telling a "dirty" joke (whether or not it was proper for a professional environment isn't the issue). A woman walking by, across two rows of machinery, "happened to overhear" that horrible joke and was offended. She screamed sexual harrassment and the mechanic was fired.I just really wanted to slap her ass for that bullshit. Not only was she putting a horrible blemish on his professional career(Good luck getting a new job with that on your resume!), but she was doing a nasty diservice to any women who are actually sexually harrassed at work.
Plenty of people need to drink a tall frosty mug of "Grow The Fuck Up" and get to bed.

Stop moaning and talk about something we can help you with.

However I suggest you take this with a kind attitude. With the way you act you must be one of those people that needs to shift that attitude before it overruns you.

I heard about something like that in the paper once. The really sad part is people are putting this shit into their kids. My parents tried to do that to me but I found my way out of the bullshit that they were covering me with. Makes me want to start up my own country. Anybody want to join?

This is what people would call a 'rant'. I am not asking for help in anyway. I simply wish to point out a fact. This is not my normal attitude. This is one of the few times that I have actually gone out like this. I am normally quite happy, easily amused, I rarely take unimportant things in life seriously, but I do have my limits. I am expressing this because it is not something that I have just recently discovered, but its something that I've been getting really tired of. I have heald the anger in for years, blanketing it with humor and amusment but now it has gotten too strong and I just have to rant about it to regain my stable possition. If you really wish to help me, you could start out by ignoring this thread.

People are stupid. They will do anything for attention. Don't worry about being expelled though, No one looks at Schools. If they do lie about where you went and what you did their they will never call your bluff. Anyway, good luck if they kick you out go out spitting :)

People who get offended over jokes are just retards who are just totally out of touch with real people. Totally mindless, and against violence and controversy just because people say it's wrong. It's these kind of people that hold back development in the worldvia scientists.... Calling them satanists, crazy, or something like that.... DON'T change, stay controversial, the world needs people like that damnit.

Don't let the system mold you into what their ideal mindless worker bee is! Beware school brainwashing! Don't take down useless time-wasting notes either (stuff you'll never have on a test and are so god damn obvious statements you'll never forget)!!

I've been kicked out of class for it once yeah but I still never apologized for it =P... I won't let them mold my mind! Waaaarrrggghhh!!!>!>!>!! *language regresses into various random symbols omitted for reader safety*

people should not be allowed to wallow in selfishness and file complaints because they heard something that bothered them. that is just an excuse for touchy feely types to dictate other people's behavior. they should be going out and helping people who have real problems, like saddam hussein.

I feel for you Zilla, I really do. Just the other day, some stupid chick in my history class (she's the embodied stereotype of all ignorant Americans, I shit you not) was going off about how we should nuke Iraq and just take it over to save money, time, and lives. I scoffed at her and said "That'd be like me beating the shit out of you and taking your money so I don't have to hear you anymore." And the stupid teacher (she was a substitue, go figure) sent me to the office for threatening her!!! They TRIED to get me in trouble down there, but oh man, I went off. For one, I was participating in a class discussion, for two, I was giving an example of her totally ignorant views, and three, I told them they were violating my free speech rights and said if they put anything on my record, they'd have my parents so far up their ass, they'd make a mockery of the school. Needless to say that shut them up pretty quick. So when I hear stuff like this happening to other people, it really pisses me off. I swear, some people won't be happy till the only thing on t.v is a black screen with the words "censored".

Don't worry too much about it. That person is fairly pathetic, and won't have too much of a life ahead of them if they spend it constantly telling on people for perceived wrongs, no matter what college they get into that you don't.

In biology class a few years ago, my class was studying genetic disorders. We did a worksheet in groups with questions on how we should advise a couple with a chance of having a baby with a genetic disorder, and for one of my answers, I put somewhere around the lines of... "The couple should abort any babies they have to reduce the chance of a genetic disorder in their kid to 0%."

My friends and I had come up with that "solution" to the problem, and I was the one without the brains to write it down, lol... I got sent to the office for that one, too. I think that the teacher thought something was wrong with me. =)

It's time for a revolution, not a riot. A sure way to get out of it is by doing a non-violent protest about something (yes like a hippie if you could play sitar it would work really good), and people will say to the person that's threatening to tell on you, "You thought he was going to start a riot?! You are so stupid! Go home!"

You have to admit, it would work, although it would be a little drastic.

Mwahaha! My old high school (yeah, I actually checked on this) had absolutely no law against inciting a riot, but only one for participating in one. You could start one, and walk away free and clear. It was a fun year.

Heh. I shouted out "Jesus Christ" and my Spanish teacher had his jaw hanging like I just burned a million dollars that belonged to him. I got 15-min detention... no big deal, but for Christ's sakes... people take that crap too offensively. When will people learn they're just words? Words hurt people, cuz they make em hurt, dammit.

Wadezilla, your story is essentially the foreshadowing of the world to come.

The thing is, we're all forced to be politically correct these days. And in order to remain politically correct, people are forced to avoid new and radical ideas. Anyone who concieves something that will change (and yes, maybe even improve) society, juries and judges and coporate leaders have to discuss and debate and research the issue until they eventually forget about it or lose track of the original goal.

Have you ever heard of planned obsolisence? That means companies PURPOSELY make products to either become broken or out-dated. Virtually everything you and I own is like this. Products are even made to be inefficient (Sports-Utility Vehicles, anyone?). And you wanna know why? To keep the economy going; to perpetuate the flow of money from consumers' pockets to coporate leaders to the designers who make things as cheaply as possible.

OK, I'm a little off topic now (I always have to mention 'planned obsolisence in every political debate). I predict that about 100 years into the future, things will very much be the same, society, culture, and technology. Because Americans are so afraid of change, so concerned with safety, and so hyped-up about anything that threatens their way of life.

I'm not too sure if what I said surmounted to anything. Even I don't know exactly what it means (I get like this every time someone mentions the blandness of society).
