What's the point of being able to mark a review helpful or not?

If you mark a review helpful you are just saying that you thought it was a good review. That feature is mainly used only for the flagging as far as I know. I don't think that it does anything but add a number to that reviews stats when you hit yes. If the review was nasty and/or offending you should hit abusive at which time if too many people hit abusive the review may be deleted which could in the long run contribute to the reviewer being review banned. It will also raise your whistle level if you flag enough reviews correctly.

I think if a review has abusive points this just negates some.

i read in the rules that when a song reaches a certain number of "abusive" clicks, it goes to the admins for review. if its removed, those with a NO or ABUSIVE get +1 to their whistle while those who said YES get -1. and vice versa if it stays

yea thats true. another thing i didnt add is that if a review stays, the YES/NO/ABUS/ counters all return to 0

That is not said in any rules anywhere.

Marking a review as helpful does nothing but show that someone found that review helpful.

if a review stays, the YES/NO/ABUS/ counters all return to 0

The abusive flags are cleared. Yes and no marks aren't abusive flags.
