Foley vs Jefferson

Introducing in the blue corner, a democrat from the great, uh, state of Louisiana Representative William Jefferson!
Best known for being caught taking bribes from an undercover agent, and being found with the cold, marked cash in his freezer. His current fighting style is Justice: in the form of justice delayed "is justice for me."

And in the red corner, a republican from the notoriously old-person state of Florida, He's great with kids (or so I'm told), let's hear it for Representative Mark Foley!

Which one is going to come out on top? Who will have the greatest impact on US policy? WHICH ONE ARE YOU WATCHING, RIGHT NOW!?!?!?

They're both opportunistic weasels, only one of them also happens to be a pedophile. Unless this can be spun the right way by the Republican media, Jefferson's going to come out slightly on top. After all, the Abrahamoff scandal didn't have nearly the effect it should have had.

Aside from the fact everybody knows politicians take kickbacks now, and nobody in power cares.

Personally, I'd just shoot them both and be done with it. Not literally, of course, but just end their dreams of having anything resembling an honorable life. Make them teach basic math to convicts for minimum wage. God I'd love that.

Heaven forbid the government have the right to investigate it's congressmen while they're in their taxpayer funded offices. The fact that (as far as I know) every DNC AND RNC congressman stood up for Jefferson's corrupt ass, means to me that we need to start over, throw out everyone in Congress and start over.

Foley was universally condemned.
Jefferson was universially defended.

You know what this means?
Politicians will always object when put to public scrutany.

People see ephebophilia as a much more twisted and reprehensible trait than corruption. Whether or not it matters in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant. The irony of it is that Foley was the head of several committees against child pornography, the same thing he was trying to get.

Also, the media has a distinct LIBERAL bias, not conservative. The only conservative news network is Fox News. CNN, NBC and ABC are al liberal. Remember Dan Rather?

While I am for abortion and against the death penalty, that blade cuts both ways. Why do you support killing fetuses which have done nothing wrong, but disapprove of killing those who have committed a heinous crime?

I'm personally against both, but it's not hypocritical for him to support one and not the other. The fact is that a fetus has not even been given a chance at life whereas, in the case, a pedophile has been given a fair chance and fucked it up by exploiting children.

It's not exactly an equal comparison.

Back on topic: If they were uncontested candidates, I'd be worried, but luckily they have people running against them. I hope the people in those districts make the right decisions.
