This is NOT confirmed yet, but according to the news agencies, North Korea has just detonated a nuclear device, probably underground... This should make the world interesting for a while.
No source yet because it's to early... North Korea has made this statment, not the US Government.

Because a low grade atomic bomb certainly causes a nuclear winter as seen by all the tests the united states did in the sixties and the two bombs dropped on Hiroshima.
Of couse it's not good if he has the bomb but it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Most likely he will just use it as a political wild card to obtain some free money from other governments.

I still don't know if it has happened for sure... the day after Kim Jong Il's 9th anniversary... But why would he claim this if it was false? He's really asking to get bombed. Maybe a deeper political meaning?

What makes you think there's more to this than just him being a jackass?
Yeah, Kim is a jackass.
.....fuckn jackass.....

I know the point of that will be missed, so I'll spell it out in plain letters.
He's "maybe" got 1 bomb. We've got a few thousand. We win.

That's what I think they'll do as well. They'll keep the idea of North Korea as a nuclear nation in the background to help with aid, trade and whatnot with other nations. It could also be a sort of "pay attention to me" scenario. Either way, the Pacific Rim area is going to be very interesting for a while.

1 bomb= 8 million people dead if dropped on New York. Not counting radiation poisoning that will cause cancer for decades.

it might be. i dunno. but i do know that being in the army, means i could get deployed out there. now i knew, when i signed up that there'd be a chance that i could go somewhere and die. but the thing is, i'd really REALLY rather NOT die...still so much more sex to have before i do.

I doubt he will jump the gun and do some suicide move like that. He's not Al-Quieda.
Like I said before, it's more of an attention device so North Korea recievies economic aid. Kim has always been talking about how he wants aid from other countries.

And 2 planes= 3000 dead.
Look at that, those guys didn't even use a bomb, they used our own friggin commercial aircraft.
And if someone wants to do that bad enough, they'll find a way, regardless of whatever security tactics we put in place to try and prevent it. We can buy time, but we can't prevent the inevitable.
Which leaves us with 2 options:
1.) Change their minds, make them like us. Very difficult to do.
2.) Blow the shit out of them first. Very easy to do.

The official Korean Central News Agency said the test was performed successfully and there was no radioactive leakage from the site.
heh.. would they have said anything else?
"The nuclear test is a historic event that brought happiness to the our military and people," KCNA said.
ooh. feel teh joy-joy.
(how ironic that they test nukes in "nuclear bunkers" ..for safety)

We can't use the Enola Gay. Christians decided that the name is too much in support of gay marriage and will not stand for a plane with such a name to do the honors of attacking North Korea.

maybe, just maybe it might have been because it wasn't as safe as they said it was....i mean it's just a hunch, but i think bomb are made to hurt, maim, destroy, and kill as many people as possible.

I think it more or less is confirmed now; US didn't detect seismic activity, but South Korea recorded a reading of 3.8
Japan is rumoured to be going off to investigate, the US is almost certain it happened.
Anyways, I'd hate to be in South Korea right now. Despite the effort of the governments to improve relations, the general populations still despise each other. Just a few days ago South Korean border gaurds shot 40 warning fires at a North Korean unit that went across the border.
btw, about the orgy...what's wrong with having one extra guy? >:) Someone might need a "helping hand".
cackles
Kim is erratic, I don't doubt he'd do something senseless or stupid. He has all kinds of defences against non-existant threats (IE, missile bases within range of Seoul to defend against possible South Korean invasion, which would probably never happen). If he does use it though, I doubt we'd erupt into a World War, at least not right away. This isn't like the cold war, nobody is really aiming nukes at anyone and not as tense.
I'd be scared, and if the United States government was about to show some intelligence (HA!) I think now would be the time to address the North Korean threat seriously.

Weee. It's a provocation, but is this really that much of surprise? North Korea has been suspected to possess a number of nuclear warheads for some time now. All they did is confirm the suspicions. Kim Jong Il is bluffing his way through international politics but I doubt he's suicidal.

In Australia, we're hearing of seismic confirmation. This does not bode well for their relations with the rest of the world...
