Uhh. Well... computers ARE essentially robots so getting them to make an awesome singing voice... just isn't going to happen. Well at least not in our lifetimes.

I'm sure someone mentioned recently a programme that uses recorded sounds from a choir, so in theory you can make your own words from it. But the alternatives khuskan suggested are probably better :P

You won't get fantastic results from any software currently available but one of the better ones out there is the zero-g vocaloid collection.
There are three versions available - LEON, MIRIAM and LOLA and I'm pretty sure that there's another one on the way. Each will run you about $200 USD.
For the most part, the vocals generated just won't do for leads but they could wrok incredib;y well as backup vocals - especially with a little additional processing.
Here's an example of generated lead vocals:
LEON sample
LEON and LOLA sample
MIRIAM sample
As you can hear, they sound synthetic - because they are... but they're still quite impressive considering they are completely generated.
They might do well for trance vocals though.
And of course, if you're not worried about having them sing actual lyrics then they're great for choir work - check out this sample - It's almost hard to believe that these vocals are completely synthetic
As lyrical generators, these plugs aren't fantastic but as either backup vocals or as a counterpart to more orchestral or operatic compositions, these plugins are actually pretty bad-ass.
I hope that helps... Probably not though - most people here don't have between 4 and 6 nudred to spend on VSTi's

I found this when i was looking around the fourms. It's good for dance techno etc but not much else. Mess with the pitch in your program to make it sing. I did it in one of my songs if you need anymore help with it.

That's what I used for the vocals in DownTempo Étranger although I didn't do any pitch bending.
The AT&T labs TTS engine is one of the best.

I've never heard of that before. The voices arn't that bad. With a few good effects added to them you might be able to get a good sound. Thanks for the link.
