Recording guitar into computer 2006-10-08 16:04:35

Hello

im an enthusiastic fruityloops user, and like to make small bits and bobs with it,
and i allso play in a band. i play bass guitar, and here comes my question:

is it possible to record bass guitar into fruityloops? like, directly with no mic, just a
jack-plugin for the computer?

how much would that cost?

kindest regards

-Posessed

you need a preamp, or an audio interface like an m-box or something.

\" \ " / "/ - Myspace

\" \ " / "/ - Xenovora - my best song yet

\" \ " / "/ - my website

just get a half inch cable to mini cable adapter and put it into the line-in on your sound card, on of those costs like 4 dollars at radio shack. The feed from a guitar is not amped so it will work perfectly

now that i think about it, the feed might be too weak to work through line-in, nvm, I not sure

If you use the microphone socket, you won't need a preamp.

That said, it would probably clip like fuck and wouldn't be worth the effort.

The difference between line in and microphone on most soundcards is linein receives amplified signals whereas microphone amplifies it itself. Microphone is, more often than not, mono channels where linein is mostly stereo.
