Would you possibly consider redemptuon. you know, just in case.
Your believe in no god but just in case there is one you'd look pretty stupid in front of god.

Would you redeem yourself if the off chance that god exists and you might get into heaven?

Yes, most likely. I don't really believe in God per say, but a higher force. But yes, I would.

If, say for the sake of argument there was a god, he'd know this, and wouldn't let us in anyway.

And if that's the only reason you believe: through fear of hell, then you'd be going there anyway.

Seriously, though. I believe in my beliefs too much to simply throw them away for hope, and anyone who is able to abandon their beliefs (whatever they are) without fact probably never truly believed them anyway.

you ever read the bible? God has a very short patience. he's always smiting people and turning them into salt. I recommeneded him to anger management courses next day- BAM! My cousin's kitchen burned down. Maybe it had something to do with my cousin failing to cook chips and splashing water on the fire which actually spread the flames but god was pissed.

I'd imagine alot of people would pray to a god if they were mortally threatened. Its just something we do to hold ourselves togeather. Its a form of escapism that helps us cope with whats going on, to think that a higher being is going to somehow save us, or the belief in life after death for comfort.
