4.07 / 5.00 13,902 Viewsi have read a lot about this, but dont think it will be of any goodness..it is basically an ipod video, but, it has wireless connectivity, so that it can share music with any other 'Zune' within one hundred feet, or thirty something meters (damn you metric bastards!). It has a standard 30gb, and no other size. it is selling for $249 US, and also has an FM radio tuner. there are some accessories available that allow for two sets of headphones, and there is a car charger, and i believe that Razer Pro has made a Zune compatible keyboard to go along with the one realeasing in November.
i have reason to believe the nickname "iPod killer" is a bit overrated, i mean, it is better, but people won't spend another 250 bucks just for a radio and wireless connectivity if they already have an iPod! the sexyness will take time to kick in, and when people start to get more and more broken iPods, then that is when the Zune will really kick off.....
for more information, visit the Microsoft Official Page, and read about or look at some accesories available...
the imToo Music and video converter website also has a feature about the Zune Media Player, visitable (eys, thats a word, look it up!) here.
i personally won't buy one till my iPod bites the dust, but what do you think?
P.S. the name "Zune" just sucks in general....eh?

And that is why I don't like it.
I have my legs crossed to keep me from pissing myself in anticipation of the 60BG iPod.

I think it's amazing an NG user made an intelligent thread and provided sources.

I feel bad now after buying my mp3 player that cost almost as much as an ipod >:(
Zune zune zune.

Np, but your name is almost hypocritical.
I'M AN ATHEIST LOL.
I don't have an ipod, or any mp3 player for that matter, I want one so bad though so I guess I'll try it out.
The ipod trend is too big, i'm afraid zune won't kill it even if it's a better mp3 player.
i'm lazy...
My site is down... and it'll stay down until I do something about it... :3

Especially since the iPod isn't even the best mp3 player now, anyway. Creative has been making better players and for less money, but Apple has been spending copious amounts of money for the brand-name recognition that the iPod has come to have.
Think you're pretty clever...
yeah it is ugly, ipod has the most simple design that makes it seem like every other mp3 player is like a replica, i dont think that is a big deal and apple will probably include all those features and more in the future
I'm buying the cheapest one, cuz I need a mp3 player. But knowing Microsoft's performance as of late, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a malfunctioning piece of crap and cost a ton of money. Buy extended warranties, aspiring Zune consumers!

I don't have an iPod so I'm getting a Zune this Christmas.

I meant 80GB.
Very dark room, I forgot to check my post.
I'll buy one when more people start to get them, so the wireless thing actually has a use.
Creative Writing.
Amateur Voice Acting.
Zune is gonna need some major advertising to get people to switch. iPods are like the trendy thing to have so its going to take a lot of effort to convince people that Zune is better and just as cool.

I prefer Zune. Wirless zune really seems very attractive. I have alreay got an zune, so an zune video converter is necessary which can helps me saving some amount of money from buying videos in zune stores. One of my friends recommended me this dvd-to-zune-video-converter software. It is powerful and can convert dvd to zune video simply by one-click.
i have a 20gb dell jukebox that cost next to nothing compared to a 2gb ipod nano and you know why cuz it does what i want it just plays music without the stupid color screen or any of the other crap i don't need
I'm a metalhead and proud of it!OR AM I AN EMO, SPAM ME
I have an 80GB iPod Video (6th Gen) and I would never trade it for a Microsoft product.
Sure, you can transfer songs wirelessly. They forgot to mention, the person you send a song to can only play it four times before it gets deleted (or after four days). It cannot be copied to a computer, and cannot be sent to anyone else.
Wow.
Two pairs of headphones plugged in? Gee, I have this little Headphone jack splitter here beside me....
Wow.
Plays DVDs? I have over 12 full length movies and season four of South Park on my iPod too.
Wow.
Made by Microsoft you say? Oh great, it's gonna break. Have fun :)
the iPod killer
no, actually that's static electricity
zing
well i had my ipod for two weeks before it broke,
but luckily the people at best buy werent being douches,
so now i have a new one.
even though it broke... i will never buy a zune.
What good is wifi when 85% of people have an Ipod?

yeh, imho the wifi option is HIGHLY overrated, since not so many people actualy have a zune that it actually matters that you can exchange "zunes" (yeh, the name sucks.. too).
this is probably gonna flop badly (or so i hope ^__^) since i'm keeping my ipod :D

No, it's 3 times or 3 days.
Also, it's incompatible with MS existing PlaysForSure DRM, which means if you've bought from MSN music then your library won't work on Zune - you have to effectively either buy your library again from the Zune service, or burn to disc and rerip as an MP3.
Why they couldn't integrate with WMP is just stupid really - they obviously want a seamless iPod+iTunes experience, but that combo has been going for 5 years now and I doubt that MS will break iPod's market share.
(Steve Jobs mentioned in his keynote that Zune had 2% market share at launch)

i cant see how ANYONE could use that much space...i had a 500 mb mp3 and that suited me fine
