In case you thought Faux News had any credibility left:
Bill O'Reilly's show commented on the Mark Foley sex scandal today, but in typical Republican form, covered the story in one of the most brazen lies ever commited to television. Thank God someone found this.
O'Reilly, in commenting about how sick and disturbed Foley was, did so while the banner underneath him read "Mark Foley (D-FL)"
The only problem?
Foley isn't a fucking Democrat, he's a Republican, one of the most conservative in the party.
(D-FL). Fair and balanced, indeed.

Having worked with a telescreen, you have to verify the text once in draft and once in final form. No way it could have been missed.

Yeah, I noticed another typo that they fixed real quick. They didnt place a period after the "P.hd" in someone's title, then after 30 seconds they changed it to "Ph.d." with the period there. Actually, now that I think of it, News channels make these mistakes all the time. You'd think they would take more care with their captions.

You actually expected something to be factually accurate on O'Reilly's show?

Um, did anybody else notice it wasn't even on the screen as long as Janet Jackson's titty was?
Yep they are trying to trick people with less than a second of an image that contradicts what they are talking about. Maybe it's for the people who don't read the website.
Those are pretty big letters stating Foley was a member of the GOP.
Or perhaps it was to get the people who missed Bill's talking points for the evening, Hard Times for the Republican Party.
My good golly gosh, it's a conspiracy. I mean despite all of the headlines and talk about Foley and his republicanness we all know that 1 second of video is going to convince the ignorant American people that Foley was really a Dem.
So, anyone wanna pull their head out of their ass?

It was more than a split-second, the video only caught the last second or so of it. The underline of the image was on long enough to pass on the message of Foley (D-FL). You don't have accidents when you have to verify it twice. At least it's never happened with anyone in the Democratic Party on FOX. How often do you see "mistakes" that read "Howard Dean (R-VT)".

Are you on FOX's payroll? It sure seems like it. As, long as we're being extreme apologists, however, how about this? Maybe the terrorists just made a mistake when they crashed the planes into the WTC. After all, only a split second of an errpr was required to take the plane off the intended course and instead zoom into the WTC. They didn't mean to do it. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake, you know. Would you like to pull your head out of your ass and admit that possibility?

I watch Fox News, and regularly enough to be pretty sure that this wasn't a mistake. There aren't often big mistakes like that on Fox, and to screw up such a prominent thing was probably some wierd propaganda plan. It's no question that Fox isn't fair and balanced, but if I'm going to watch biased news, I might as well watch what's biased in my favor.

There's a difference between bias and outright lying. For example, saying that we made the correct choice in Iraq is bias. Saying that Bush's wiretapping was constitutional is a straight out lie. Similarly, putting the "D" next to Foley's name was bullshit. If you want to watch right-wing biased news, turn on CNN. If you want to witness lying, turn on FOX.

I'm sorry, I didn't properly make my point. I know and understand that what Fox did here was lying, but honestly this is the first outright lie that I have seen perpetrated by this network. Whether or not the wiretapping that you used as an example is constitutional is not a lie, but merely an opinion based on different interpretations. I don't often see, nor believe, that Fox lies on air that often.
And if you think that CNN has a right-wing bias, then you must have extremely liberal leanings.

I'm going to make a station called JMHX News, and I'm going to list George Bush as a Democrat, Nancy Pelosi as a Nazi, and Hubert Humphrey as a Proto-Fascist, Post-Industrial Candidate.
Because lying is okay if you're lying to support the Republican Party. People who claim this is a "typo" are willfully ignoring the fact that, to get the text from draft to final to television, you have to confirm it and recheck it multiple times. There are entire departments devoted to copy editing and screen-crawl checking.

They ran a story on the dangers of terrorism in the US and how you can protect yourself for several hours straight. It was outright propaganda of the "oh no, the terrorists are out to kill us" type.

Y'all need to remember the people you're debating against, and what their positions are on other political issues.
You aren't going to convince Begoner that this is a simple typo, so stop trying.
Yeah, WE know it was a typo, and frankly, that's all that matters. If people want to believe this is a conspiracy, that Israelis are just like Nazis, that the US is the direct cause of death and decay in the world, and that our government is Fascist, let em. As long as they aren't in any positions of power, their opinions are just that.

It's definitely a misspell. Just like the time CNN added an extra "g" in that guys name who first name was Niger. Why the fuck would Fox openly lie about this if millions of people watch the network, especially leftwinger fanatics or just waiting for the slightest sign of partisanship.

We all know the terrorists aren't trying to kill us... right?
We all know that the threat the terrorists pose is almost non-existent. Since 2001, terrorists have killed 500 people per year, which is slightly more than one person per day. More people die than that from cigarettes, for example. I don't see any 3-hour specials on the dangers of cigarettes and how you can duct tape your house to protect from second-hand smoke. Give me a break.

.... I wish you all could just have a peek inside my mind whilst reading through this topic for the past five minutes. Are you listening to yourselves? "OMG TYPO = VAST RIGHTWING CONSPIRACY!!!!!"
Is there NOTHING else going on in the world today that this is actually considered a decent topic for debate? Hell, have you taken five seconds to look at how closesly together the letters "D" and "R" are put together on a standard qwerty keyboard?

Yeah, WE know it was a typo
I guess YOU also know that the government and the media always do what's in the best interest of the people, that we went to Iraq to liberate the Iraqi people, that Bush lied about wiretapping for several years so the terrorists didn't know the were being watched, etc. Not all of us are as naive as you. Guess what? FOX is the propaganda mouthpiece of the Republican Party -- this was not a simple slip of the finger.

There are plenty of keys closer to R than D - E,T,F,G,4,5. What are the odds, out of those and others, that it happens to be a D, the symbol of a party that few - if any - of the FOX commentators agree with, and O'Reilly has an open problem with.

I guess that's why he praises James Carville and Swan.
