Hey, this forum has similarities to Around the Horn so i'll give you some topics, tell me if you buy the idea or sell it, and use those words in your answer!

1. Bush's 48 hour ultimatum as a successful tactic in bolstering American confidence in war

2. Saddam's son's refusal to leave as a sign of a potentially long, sandy, Vietnam

3. The UN having a chance to interfere with the US's invasion of Iraq within the next few months.

I don't think the 48 hour thing was a good idea, I think he should have just said "get out soon, or else we're coming for you." The 48 hours is telling him too much of when the attack begins, even if it isn't until days after.

2. Saddam's son's refusal to leave as a sign of a potentially long, sandy, Vietnam

The only reason Viet Nam wasn't a decisive victory was because of the harsh jungle terrain. The desert is the prime fighting condition for US forces. Also, there isn't as much political wish-wash, even if that doesn't seem true.

3. The UN having a chance to interfere with the US's invasion of Iraq within the next few months.

No, the UN can't pass a resolution without US support, the US wouldn't vote in favor of disrupting itself.

True, but i didn't buy it.

Sadly, everything GW2 sez, is calculated to work on his own ppl like a statistically sliding propagana scale.

He effectively called the UN cowards (i mean fuk, how to put the knife in when you don't get your own way!)

GW2: U cowards!
UN: no, we're a divided opinionated democracy
GW2: America is threatened!
UN: so is Kashmir, Palenstine, Zimbabwe, Chechnya, Sierra Leon, Angola...
GW2: name 1 famous person in any of those countries!
UN: ahh, so you hate Saddam kos your father made him too famous?!
GW2: yeah, sad-Damn him! Now we're gonna make him a martyr in death - more famous than the Last Prophet Muhammad... you'll see!!

Buy. Ya know, Bush can come off downright coherent when he's talking about kicking some ass.

2. Saddam's son's refusal to leave as a sign of a potentially long, sandy, Vietnam

Sell. He knows the reality of the situation, but in that culture you cannot show any signs of weakness - hence the bluster from Saddam and his sons even in the face of certain, quick defeat.

3. The UN having a chance to interfere with the US's invasion of Iraq within the next few months.

Sell. First off, as somebody put it just above, the UN cannot act without U.S. approval. Secondly, the invasion will probably be over for all intents and purposes within a few weeks.

2. Saddam's son's refusal to leave as a sign of a potentially long, sandy, Vietnam

sell, the war wont take long BUT the US troops will get hit with some chemical weapons and it will accelerate the war plans and get more people behind the battle...

3. The UN having a chance to interfere with the US's invasion of Iraq within the next few months.

sell, the UN wont be talked to by the US until after teh war and rebuilding starts... then france and russia will be the great allies that helped rebuild iraq..
