Honestly heres one why did the french send soldiers into iraq? TO teach them how to surrender i could go on for hours about my feelings. But honestly when was the last time the french actualy fought in a war and dont say ww2 cuz the second germany touched their soil they sirrendered

heh, I don't remember that part too well. Goddamn that was a violent movie though. All these war movies that come out are just trying to one-up each other in the graphic, ultra-realistic violence department nowadays. Anyways, on the topic at hand, I dunno when the last time the French military was in action - did they have any part in Croatia or the 1st Persian Gulf?

You forget that their very nature gives them respect. They are officially considered a mercenary organization. That means the government of France will not accept responsibility for their actions. Recall the bombings of the Marine barracks in Lebanon some 15 odd years ago. The Marines were getting ready to respond with some major semper fi style whoop ass. Political considerations at home kept them from avenging their dead. The foriegn leigon would not have these same constraints. They would go out, kick ass, and some Frenchman (who probably ordered the action) would say,"What are me to do, they are mercenaries?"

Well this couldnt be more uninformed, now could it? Newsflash- The French oppose war in Iraq because they have a vested economic interest in Iraq, just like we do. They are not sophisticated pacifists, they are every bit as greedy as they claim we are.

As for keeping their friends, did they keep the US as a friend? They are the reason there was UN dissention regarding the upcoming (or by the time you read this, current) war.

Who are these "friends in high places" anyways? The US has by far the strongest military in the world. BY FAR. The only country which would even make for a vaguely entertaining war is China, because of their seemingly unlimited amount of bodies. Even at this the smart money is on the US due to better training and technology.

Even barring nuclear weapons the US would still be able to take out any alliance France could put together.
