Anyway, my favourite series is Championship Manager. Not the greatest game in terms of graphics, but for sheer addictive gameplay.

civilization 2. it's about as resource intensive as mine sweeper, but it has hours of gameplay. so in other words, if I'm doing something hardware intensive, like rendering in 3d studio max for example, civ 2 is about the only game I'd trust to run in the bg without crashing my comp.
