This is pretty sick. This is what, 4 major school shootings in the past month? College in Canada, High/Middle School in Colorado, Principal being shot for disciplining a student, and now an Amish School in PN. Personally, it seems that the more news coverage this type of incident gets, the more often it happens, I noticed that back during the Columbine Shooting, and the ones that happened in the next year or two afterwards.
Miller said that during the attack, Roberts apparently told students to line up in front of the blackboard. He began to tie his female captives' feet together. He let the 15 boys in the classroom leave.
Miller said Roberts also allowed an adult female who was pregnant to leave with three other adult females who had infant children with them.
The teacher who was released was able to alert authorities, Miller said. Miller said Roberts called his wife while he was inside the school. She said that he told her that he couldn't go on any more, and he was getting revenge for something that happened 20 years ago.
"Apparently, there was some sort of an issue in his past that for some reason, he wanted to exact revenge against female victims. That's all I can tell you right now," Miller said.

Parents don't know how to take responsibility for their kids anymore. Attack the problem, not the symptom. Start putting metal detectors in schools and arming security officers in the school.

Wait a second. Why call this a "school shooting"? It was a 32-y/o truck driver who killed people, coincidentally in a school. This doesn't seem related to the cases where students kill fellow students..
And as if to illustrate why this wording was problematic...

.
What I see here is a psychopath who killed some people. I don't think it's relatable to anything.. Of course I haven't watched TV in months, so maybe it is? What's the latest scourge plaguing America? Spinach passe already?

In my high school, we always had an armed police officer around, especially assingned to our school (really nice guy too). This is an idea I think all districts should pursue.

School shooting because the shooting was taken place in a school, not necisarilly just students taking out students. I concidered the Colorado one a school shooting as well. But this one is a tad bit strange since he let the males go, and only shot girls that did not have children or were pregnant.

Its not necisarilly related to schools itself, other than him saying its revenge for something from 20 years ago, probally got turned down by an Amish girl when he was 15 or something rediculous like that. This is the latest scourge, spinach came and gone. Now its school shootings, and shooting police, and then being shot 135 times.

Yeah, it seems to be a growing trend. The high school I went to had metal detectors and a few police, not school guards. Though, they were used for gang related reasons, they should be used everywhere for keeping weapons out of schools.

In last year of highschool ,99-2000, we had camera put in because of columbine the prevoise year. Sometimes When I came in late I'd wave to them. Not sure anyone was watching.

I fucking love doing that! Finding hidden cameras/ screwing around in front of them is a hobby of mine.
Or at least was.

We had cameras too, they were actually used twice while I was in high school. Somebody was usually watching ours, but I think they were mainly used as a deterrent against vandalism. It would get kinda costy for a district to always have someone watching the cameras, it's not like a mall. But it may just come to that...

I think the connection with all of these is that the shooters are males. I think they should be called male shootings. Or gun shootings, since they all used guns.

Yeah, another reason why the term "school shooting". Shouldn't be used here. This guy apparently didn't read the story, seeing as he assumed from the title of "school shooting" that the culprit was a kid who apparently had easy access to a weapon, while in fact is was some 30 something year old guy.

He had no criminal record. He probably bought the guns at a local munitions shop, a perfectly normal thing that raises no concern when done by a (seemingly) normal person. Guns aren't illegal yet, buddy.

I know. But it wasn't commited by a student, which is what instantaneously comes to people's minds when they hear the term, "school shooting". Evidence? Several of the replies to this topic. People saw the term "school shooting", and didn't even read the story. They just went right on and start talking about there needs to be more security measures taken to keep kids from getting guns. You know what I'm saying? You see where I'm coming from? You smell what I'm stepping in?

You know, if teachers were packing this wouldn't be a problem. Can amish have guns? Maybe just a muzzle loader...
