All of a sudden, a real war has broken out that involves the whole United Kingdom. Yes, it's the ratings war between BBC News and ITN for the whole joke of a conflict, which is being treated as more important than anything else that could possibly happen...barring Bush becoming so frenzied he orders the USS New Jersey to fire him into central Bagdhad.
is anyone else sick and fucking tired of broadcasters thinking their news divisions are as much about ratings as all the soaps and RealiTV shows they churn out week in, week out? How long before the schedule reads:
7:00pm: Rich Presenters on Holidays You Can't Afford
7:30pm: Obligitory DIY Show
8:00pm: EastEnders
8:30pm: Carpet Bombing
9:00pm: The News, with special guest stars Norman Shwartzkopf, William Hague, and Robbie Williams.

You know what I am sick and tired of... listening to people like you who have the choice of turning off their tv's. Get real, read a book.

Books expand the mind, like 1984 or Communist Manifesto. Books like that. Yeah. Multiple viewpoints on everything. Just singled out Communist Manifesto because it's always seemed less rant-ish than most radical literature.

Funny you mention 1984, it explains why Bin Laden will never be captured and that Saddam is the Goldstein of the last 2 decades.

OH CHRIST !! is right. What the hell is this topic anyway. What type of response are you looking for a big hardy "Hear Hear". Damn BBC Humph. If you don't want to watch it use the little black box with the litle buttons and change the channel. Maybe watch the discovery channel or something maybe you will learn something and actually have something to post about.

Yes, that's an obvious solution, isn't it? You also make a bold assumption that I will actually be watching, and that I give a fuck about what you "think".
By the way, weren't you supposed to be enlisted by now, since you spent all last week raving about how you will be the first on the battlefield? Grow a pair of balls and stand by your convictions, rather than type silly little messages to attempt to hide your ignorance and inability to form a coherent opinion.

yes that is exactly what I said I said that I was joing up and shipping out. What said was if it came down to it and if there was say a draft then I would go and join up because I was needed. You try and invalidate every ones opinion by saying that they don't make sense and using your own opinions as truth. The only opinion you have is no war no war no war, wow what a concept. I think that you my short stubby friend have the communication skills of leech and the intelligence of a knat.

The two cents bit was nice, even if he didn't coin it. And while it made me smile, it was only slightly better than insult.

And whatever stopped George Part II from doing that?
Anyway... I'm certainly not defending him. But I'd like to point out that when you post in his thread, or even respond to him, you just give him fuel. When you complain about him, it confirms the fact that he has gotten on your nerves.
Ever consider just ignoring him?

Jesus, you don't need to be such a bitch. People need to stop judging topics like this. Not everyone has gotten the chance to hear everything you have, don't assume people all have had equal opportunity and experience.
The last thing this place needs is a group that horribly flames topics that just aren't something you find new or interesting. It's a waste of space!
"You know what I am sick and tired of... listening to people like you who have the choice of turning off their tv's"
^ Well I am tired of people commenting on topics just to bash others. If you don't like the friggin' topic STOP bumping it up with useless fighting. Let it go, ignore it...
We don't need your hate. That goes for a lot of you.

Yes, concurring with everyone is such a healthy manner of debating, isn't it? besides, who wet themselves about Charlie Daniels? he wasn't even Pro War; his statement was that Anti-War protesters (you know, people with a set of testicles who stand up for what they believe) were a bunch of "mugwumps." What is this, the next Harry Potter book?
Besides, there are 56 million people in the UK, how many of them do you think actually watch the news for "information"? I don't, I read about it online because there iis a wider array of sources, opinions, and they don't try to put the fear of Allah up you by having a journalist reporting wearing a gas mask, while the BBC used that very tactic earlier today. Barry Glassner needs a follow up on nations outside the Us, because Uncle Tony is using the template to his own ends, yet we aren't falling for it at such a degree.
Anyway, if you have to belittle everything I say, don't bitch and whine when I do the same to you. You should be able to take what you dish out, n'est pas? And how many of your opinions are you passing off as "fact' on a daily basis?

Mugwump:
1)A person who acts independently or remains neutral, especially in politics.
2)often Mugwump A Republican who bolted the party in 1884, refusing to support presidential candidate James G. Blaine.
3)a neutral or uncommitted person (especially in politics)

Wow. Name calling will solve everything, I've learned here on NewGrounds.
</sarcasm>
Seriously, though...flaming someone because they post their opinion, regardless if it's something you've heard before, won't make you look smarter or wittier or more clever than the next guy. It's SIMPLE to flame. It's sometimes a challenge to be decent and either pass by the threads you don't care for...or represent yourself in a better way.
That being said, I'm convinced that the media EVERYWHERE is corrupted in some way. American media is the worst, really. Every station has a different title for the war, and they display it with BOOMING deadly music that's supposed to chill us. All it does is make me think of a soap opera. Blood red graphics seem to be in fashion this time, too.

Nostradamus is the biggest farse ever. Anyone can be so cryptic and vague that you could apply it to anything. Sheesh, I remember my friend making a joke during the last super bowl using Nostradamus' literature to suggest that he was predicting the outcome of the game. The frightful thing was that it almost seemed true. :P
Of course... then again, my friend also said that the Raiders would win... guess not.

Heh. Good point, many people come off as being stars or being deep when they're just being way too broad, or way too confusing, which some confuse as intelligence.
Intelligence through word to me is being able to quickly get your point across using vocabulary that can be understood by all of the intended audience, while still having enough evidence to back it up =P.
I'll have to read into that guy a bit more before I comment specifically on him though.

You haven't seen the BBC coverage. From 7am (apparently, I don't wake up 'til, like, 10) to midday, it's WAR: LIVE!!! And still the BBC is counbting Blair as some big mover and shaker, and actually airing his drivel, despite the fact it's as far off the mark as the average US missile strike. £5 a hospital or residential area is hit by next Thursday.
What next; a celebrity panel, utilising all the latest technology, otherwise known as a light pen? I can see it now:
"Look at the trajectory of that missile, that is perfect aim, directly into that large building which is believed to be a Government compound, even though it looks like a residential block..."
This is military conflict, not football. A little differentiation people!!!

I won't bet. ;) Because I agree, and we'd be up shit creek if it happens. We'd be making the same bet! *lol*

Oh, probably. I don't mind celebrities voicing their opinions, in fact...I'm all for it. But they try to be politicians, and think that because they're all famous, their opinions are more important, or count for something more. Yay for free speech! BOO for actors that don't know what the fuck they're doing trying to play commentator and poli-sci expert.
This war is rapidly turning into a money machine, just like everything else does.

I would comment further, but both of you have already perfectly covered my opinion on media and the war being used as a money-machine. Hats off to both of you, and I look forward to your future posts =P

*lol* Hey, no problem.
It's good to know someone appreciates us!
Funny thing is...I'm finding it easier to espress my opinions HERE than it is around my friends.
I'm American. German and mutt by heritage. But when one of my friends found out I went to demonstrations?
He called me a "French f*ggot".
I was very disappointed, and moved on.

Oh God, last night's coverage, they whipped it out. "We're attacking here, then we'll be invading from here, with support from here." My jaw has only just retuned from it's floored position.
What about when they go to Bagdhad? Will that coverage be like the Superbowl???
By the way, Friday night's viewing statistics were hilarious:
WAR!!!: 10m people watched.
Repeat of Friends on NBC: 14m viewers.
So, 246m Americans aren't even watching this blanket coverage? What does this say for the nation's support?
