I currently have Fruity Loops Producer Edition, and I'm wondering... which plugins/add-ons/VST's should I get? Sytrus is on my list... I'm itching also for slayer. Click here to view the list.

Don't limit yourself to the plugins Image Line has, there are hundreds upon hundreds of quality VSTi plugins out there. What are you planning on making in FL?

I believe B0UNC3 uses it. It is a quality synth. Native Instruments also makes some really nice ones.

A variety of stuff. Piano-based, electronica, rock, and industrial. Could you guys link me to the purchase pages of each of these? And is vanguard and z3ta a set of instruments, or...? And if so, are they better than Sytrus?

For piano look into different soundfonts, that's the best advice I can give for that. Vanguard is WAY better then sytrus, I think so anyway and I use it in ALL of my songs =)

z3ta+ is alright, I don't use it much though because I don't understand it that well yet because I don't know how to use it well lol. It's just a bunch of pre-made synths and stuff.

I am not sure what to use for rock or industrial.

Hope this helps a little bit =)

*dies from shock*

Learn how to use z3ta! Its the most powerful synth I have! Seriously.

there are some amazing free ones I grabbed off this site pitbull recommended..... I could send you them in a zip by email... I've got like 4-5 really good ones. As far as industrial and rock goes, stick with soundfonts and samples. I'll send you a really nice piano soundfont, all of them are pretty much free.

btw... don't get slayer. If you really want something like that, get slayer 2. But if you use slayer, you will be criticized harshly. Just a little heads up. :P

And nobody has mentioned v-station yet? *gasp* shame on you guys! anyways, v-station is made by the same guys that made vanguard I think, and its a good synth for trance, I believe vanguard is more for trance also, but z3ta+ is a more all-around synth... or maybe I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about... but I used all of them before ^_^

Here's a little crappy something I'm working on that uses plenty of v-station goodness.

Mastered in: Reason 3.0
Opening synths and pad: v-station
Bass: Vanguard
Percussion: Vengeance Essential Clubsounds Vol. 1 demo
Arpeggio: v-station
Piano: Reason's NN-TX Sampler
Choir: Reason's NN-TX Sampler

Also keep in mind there is a bit of quality loss since it's running at 80 kbps.

Slayer... does Darkside555 or xseraph7 use them?

Kirizzle... 80kbps? Ew. I'll wait for a higher version, but knowing your work, it should be good. :)

Alright, I really need an official list of VSTs to look at. cornandbeans, my email is g9core@gmail.com, so email away! Thanks guys!

IT'S NOT THAT BAD @ 80KBPS! Lol, and I was just giving you a little something to listen to so that you could get a taste of what v-station sounded like, it's not like giving opinions of synths in this thread is going to show you what they can really do, which is why I went to upload that. Now listen! 80kbps is good enough for now :D

Zeta+ and Vanguard are still the best. There are so much possibilities to edit the synths etc.

Fruities VST's on their website are OK but not as good as the ones from reFX.

I checked it out Kirizzle... and realize how foolish my comment about the bitrate was. :P Great song... I think I'm getting vanguard, mainly because z3ta is only available in euros (dollar transfer rates and overseas crediting is a business I don't like getting mixed up with). Cornandbeans, I'm going to PM you for the soundfonts, etc...

Actually Vanguard is VERY easy to use, so is pro 53. I'd rather go for V station or Legacy though since they could totally bbq z3ta...Atleast legacy can.

VanGuard = Easy to use and Easy on your CPU
Z3ta = Pretty Easy if you know all the controllers, VERY versatile.Kinda CPU heavy
V Station = Moderate, but very versatile.NOT necessarily CPU heavy
Legacy = Omfg Prepare to waste a month to get a great Lead out fo this..It actually took me a while to learn. VERY CPU heavy.

From the sounds of it, Vanguard seems the best for me. But how can something be hard to learn if it's just a set of instruments... or am I still confused about VST's and what they really are?

Yes of course, it'll work just like any other vst but better. Also If you wanna make orchestral shit, check out edirol orchestal just throwing it out. A bit pricey though the shit.

The only thing that takes a bit of learning is what all the different knobs and buttons do, because there are quite a bit of them. Just play around with them, see what happens, and you'll start making kicka$$ synths in no time.

err, i use sytrus alot,

can any of you guys link to a cool plugin like z3ta or something??
(or is sytrus good enuff)

i made this fun little thing with:

Fruity slicer (drums)

Sytrus (pad, lead synth and bass synth)

3xosc (sub)

and sampler to import the "how did i beat you" sound
i also use some vocoder, but i didnt on this song...

improvement, feedback and shopping list for plugins would be MUCH appreciated
