Every now and again, some one is able to pull off a well created cover.

But sometimes musicians will go beyond the edge of reason and turn a perfectly fine song into something horrid.

EX: A Perfect Circle - Imagine.

Ugh. It's the worst Beatles cover i've ever heard. They copied the song exactly, dropped it into a minor scale of some type. Then added a shitty power drum kit and long, dull chords and vocals.

Any others that make you cringe?

It made me wish I had a terminal illness just so that i could escape the crap. It was so bad that I can't remember the artist.

Be Your Own Pet - Bicycle Race

Speeding it up was an awful idea. Seems like there wasn't much effort put into it really.

Sheryl Crow - The First Cut is the Deepest.
Gray Matter - I am the Walrus.

Yes, that cover is quite bad, but I can stand that more then the McFly version of Don't Stop Me Now.

Well, I know Shinedown did a cover to 'Simple Man'.

It was actually a pretty good cover for a song, because he really had the projecting voice to pull it off with. The Acoustic sounded great and there were really no problems.

But then people started tot hink Shinedown actually wrote 'Simple Man'. Sometimes people just need a good punching.

I absolutely LOVE APC's cover of Imagine. I don't think they could have done a better job. They've added a Tool-esque quality to the music that no other band is capable of. Props to APC for pulling off such a magnificant cover.

There are no good covers. Covers are for talentless idiots who can't be bothered to write their own material.

Some remixes can be very good, but that's a different story.

Trick Daddy's Let's Go it rips off Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy train which was a cover of a Frank Sinatra song that I can not think of the name at the moment.

I could probably think of a few, but I have that shit cover of "magic carpet ride" sung by some talentless pop female singer. They put it on a kfc commercial, so now it haunts me when I watch TV.

I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by New Found Glory (orignal by Aerosmith).

The orignal was sucky but it was standable. The cover is so horrible it's unbelieveable.

White Wedding by Murderdolls (orignal by Billy Idol).

I liked the orignal song, my god I was disapointed when I heard the cover on the radio.

What A Wonderful World by some modern crappy band. I forgot the damn name. Possibly The Ramones or something along those lines. (Orignal by Louis Armstrong).

Oh god did the band destroy the song, so much I've forgotten the band name. It was in a car advert.

Forgot one which has to be the most over-rated cover I know. It is horribly over-rated.

Hurt by Johnny Cash (orignal by NIN (Nine Inch Nails) ).

I first heard the orignal in a flash movie that featured on the front page. The same day I got the song (LEGAL WAYS OF COURSE!). I then heard of an acoustic version that was done by Johnny Cash. Since the song was crying out to be done on acoustic guitar, I couldn't wait to hear it.

As soon as Johnny Cash struggled out the first line, my heart just dropped. He murdered the song with his voice. His voice was so old, worn and it struggled so much, it broke the song in thousands of peices. But for some weird reason, loads of people love the cover and consider it better than the orignal. I really can't agree.

Creep-Pearl Jam (Radiohead Cover). What the fuck was Eddie Vedder trying to do? I mean, Creep, isn't the best song by Radiohead, but fuck what a horrible job he did.

I'm still not sure on whether I prefer it to the original. However I believe people like the old worn voice because it adds to the rawness of emotion...or some shit like that. I dunno, it took me a moment to get used to. But now it's alright.

Also, I play it pretty good on acoustic, and that's all thanks to that cover. So give it some cred.
