Last Night I Was A Father... 2006-09-28 15:23:00 Reply

I had a dream last night that I'd gotten a girl I knew from high school pregnant, and she just arrived in the middle of the night and dropped off the new-born with a note explaining things.

It was the most curious feeling. You can't understand it mentally, because it doesn't do it justice. I just had this overwhelmed sense of care and affection for the child. All I was interested in was knowing it was safe at all times.

I had to hid its existence from my parents and friends, though I can't remember why exactly.

But the actual feeling of being a father was absolutely, incomprehensively amazing. That's the funny thing about dreams, they can make you react very unexpectedly to what you deem reality.

Dreams can be so horrible sometimes. I had a dream recently that someone I knew was getting married. That dream on its own made me feel like I had feelings for that person for ages.

Don't knock on death's door, ring the doorbell and run. He hates that.

That's the thing though, the mother was gone. I felt like both parents at once. It completely tripped me out.

At one point in the dream I couldn't hide the child any longer, so I brought it to my mother and said, "Mom, I've made you a grandmother."

At that point in the dream, no matter her reaction, I was impossibly proud and beaming, no matter the economic stress it was going to put on my life, which I was very aware of in the dream.

I see now why mothers, no matter how screwed up, will fight for the right to keep their children. It's very instinctual.

It's interesting how the brain can make things seem so realistic, even impossible situations such as meeting people you know are dead, but more to the point why your brain does it.

That's interesting that you felt affection toward the kid in the dream. Very interesting.

That'd be something weird to dream...

Yea, I woke up thinking "I want a child now." Usually that's the girl's thoughts. But this dream was very interesting. I hadn't experienced care for another being that sincere in years.

In the same way you can feel like you're falling when you're not, I felt what it would be like to be a father.

It wasn't a dream. You just don't remember putting it in her.

No idea, maybe you actually just want kids?
Lots of psychology to figure out dreams, I have no experiance with it, but I'd say..
You were probally having a mix between a wet dream and a woman's dream.

Well, there was no sex in it. It wasn't a sexual dream in any way shape or form. Just in product. But I'd definitely agree with the 'woman's dream' statement. How strange.
