Train Scriptor

I was on the train and say this guy writing out some bitch of a script. It wasn't actionscript of what I saw, because it wasn't in Flash. It was like ultra crazy long script that went like twice the screens width and it was almost very repetitive of what I saw. Had all the blue text, greyed out shit, and green quotes. I just found it cool...

NG Around You

I seem to find that NG is everywhere. Today, I had to read about AKBAR! I saw the script on the train! Some guy was making sigs at my school for his site which is not big at all. Just everywhere I look, something having to relate to NG is there. Maybe it's the Flash icon at the bottom of those macs but it's just torture to see it there without the ORANGE and BLACK awesomeness.

Oregon Trail

Today in my history class we talked about the Oregon Trail, and someone mentioned the video game.
I played this game during 2nd grade on one of four Mac-II's (you know the ones that only ran applications when a floppy disc was inserted). I downloaded the ROM today (shhhhhh!) and still find the game fun yet challenging. This game is one of the few things I remember from elementary school and I was wondering if any of you have played it and/or if impacted your life as much as mine?

That game was great, if only because you could see the tombstones of previous people who had played and died as you went along.

Has anyone had trouble getting flash questions answered in the flash forum? I recently posted 2 things that were stumping me and neither got a single response.

I fucking love that game. I'm going to have to find a version of it online somewhere. Hunting was great. And I too, had that on just about the oldest Mac ever. It was the bestest.

Speaking of Oregon Trail online, why hasn't someone remade it in Flash. It wouldn't be THAT complicated...

The only downside would be if it wasn't executed properly it could taint the name and history that it has, which would be an awful shame.

Someone recently did and it was okay. I've been planning on redoing that game for a while now, just never had the chance. Everyone loved that game.

I started on a re-creation of Oregon trail that was gonna be awesome called "Mormon Trail" since Mormons were one of the major groups to "go west" in the old days. I made a few mini games for it, but my buddy never finished programming the main engine. The idea with the mini games is that each has some variable(s) that make the game easier or harder based on the skills your party has developed (ie: medical, outdoors, mechanical, etc) and whenever you want to do something, like repair your wagon, ford a river, give someone medicine, mend clothes to prevent cold/sickness, etc you play a mini game to see how effective your efforts are:

The guy that responded to this one is such a douche, "always try to figure it out for yourself before posting" or use google? wtf. It's obvious you had been trying to figure it out and you were looking for help. I was going to bump it calling him an asshole, but I decided against it. Everyone has questions...and that's what the flash forum is for.

Unless it's syntax I usually find that as soon as I ask someone a question, the answer pops into my head before they answer...it's weird.

Because big fuzzy asshole has portal awards, including underdogs, which tom did mention as some of the criteria. I don't think tom ever said what the requirements are, he did say that they are still figuring out and tweaking the system, which is reasonable. So yea, give it some time for them to work it out nicely, and be happy that most of the idiots that flood the front page with news have be squelched.

Ya it was a good game a while ago, but it seems like everyone and their dog is trying to make a remake right now. I'd rather do something original or do an original twist on that genre (migration to mars anyone?) than plain ol remake the original. Especially now that I see 50 people trying to make it.

I have an award too... though my only solo award was years back. I guess I just need to submit more stuff... I'm jealous that LLL has more users bookmarking him too.

Death of Vancouver Olympic Mascots.

A teacher at my school walks up to me today asking if I've seen the Vancouver Olympic Mascots... I said yes. Then he asked if I wanted a job. I said sure... Then he explained how he wanted me to make a flash with the mascots either dieing or being made fun of for the latest assembly on the 19th of dec. I asked him what I get in return. Money? No... Instead he offered free lunches at the school for 2 weeks. I said no 'cause all their is, is french frys and other fatting foods. (Even though free food would've been nice...)
Instead I convinced him to let me do something I've never done and always wanted... Go up infront of my school with a mega-phoune thing. Free to say whatever I wanted for 5 mins. So of course I am so promoting NG and my site. :P
Plus the toon only has to be like 1 min tops. Hehe...

Eh, I wouldn't ever think of a teacher wanting you to create an animation with mascots dying. Like don't you think that's rather odd and harsh? Seriously, especially coming from a teacher. Yeah I know... He gave me specific intructions to make it "not that bad". Which means cartoony gore and etc.
Free lunches are weird? Their common in my school. We have balloon drops and other gay contest things in the lobby and most of the time its free lunches for "X" amoung of days as the prize.
Also: My teacher is the drama teacher so he's.... different.
