I went to Holland over the summer actually and spent a week in Amsterdam. I coordinated my trip with the 5 Days Off which basically ended up in the most hardcore partying ever. Voddy Redbull and DJs I would have KILLED to see every night from 11:00 to 04:00. Not only that, but the last day there ended in the worlds LARGEST dance event which was probably some of the most fun I've ever had. We left at 9:00 PM and didn't get back to the hotel until 07:00 the next morning. SOOOO RAD. Plus, everyone wears white to the event, so it looks all crazy. If you are Facebook friends with me, you can see pictures.
Sensation White. Pretty badass yeah. Did you take any pills to keep you going for the entire night? They come kinda standard with most people who go there. I've been there 4 years ago, pretty crazy rave.

Try learning dutch. It's pretty simple apparently. Plus a trip to holland would be nice eh?No point learning Dutch as they are notoriously capable with languages. Am I correct, Dutch people, in saying that you're all at least tri-lingual as you learn Dutch, English and German from primary school?
That's sort of correct. Everybody can at least speak dutch and english and most speak german, especially since it is kind of similar to dutch. Dutch is not an easy language to learn though, far from that. There are so many exceptions in plurals and in the way even the most common words are used that it gets really tedious to learn it. But yeah what's the point of learning it, only people in Holland, Belgium and Suriname speak it and it's not like any of those countries are going to take over the world any time soon. Maybe learning chinese will be something a lot more useful since their economy is completely steamrolling over the western and usa economy at the moment

It's strange that you've brought this up now while I was brainstorming ideas for a NBA Jam-esq game with different power ups and such. Also I don't understand, why are all the characters on the same side of the net?

My lingual philosophy is that languages aren't "easy" or "hard", just different. I mean, children learning it from birth become fluent easily enough. If we all approached languages with a 'clean slate' and just absorbed it, then surely we'd acquire fluency in the same way as a child would!?
Bleh. It's early and I'm not making sense.

Heh i understand what you are saying. Adults tend to apply their logic on matters when they are learning something, which makes it harder for them to understand certain things than it would be for a kid.
But i think kids are overrated for their learning abilities. I mean it takes 2 years or so for them to speak the language in a proper manner after their first word. Any adult that stays in an environment where another language is spoken for 2 years and is actively trying to learn it can speak it fluently.

my god AS3 makes pause buttons for game SO easy.... just do stage.frameRate = 0
(beware of streamed sound and Timer events though)
Put the pause code in a KEY_DOWN event or you won't be able to unpause.
SO MUCH EASIER THEN THE OLD WAY!
ahhhhhhhhhhh

That will work well if the player is paused for a few seconds. According to the reference documents, the range for the frameRate property is 0.01 to 1000 frames per second. After doing my own tests, the Flash will advance one frame about ten seconds after being paused (stage.frameRate = 0). Then, it will continue to advance one frame every 100 to 110 seconds. However, that means one is only loosing about 36 frames an hour, which may be acceptable for some games.

Thankies. ^^ It's my most highest scoring flash yet. (Not counting the thing from last clockday of course. :P)

oh uh crap then... damn it why can't flash do 0 fps?
maybe if I halt the code too so that it's only animations advancing every 100 frames.....

Yeah, Sensation White, good call. Sometime in the future I hope to go to Black as well. The line up when I saw it was pretty pathetic, but the music was alright. It's more the scene and sheer MASSIVENESS of it that drew me to it in the first place. Of course I would have loved if some better DJs were spinning but it was still an amazing night.
Nah, I don't do pills, it was only alcohol and Red Bull that kept me awake.

Sup, guyz. I'm typing this from Virginia where I'm visiting relatives for Hanukkah and just plain visiting relatives. I'm having fun visiting cousins, 2nd cousins, cousins once removed and whatever type of cousins there are.
Anybody planning on traveling for the holidays?

"Red Ring of Death"?
What's that? Some sort of food...? It sounds tasty and spicey.
I haven't aten anything spicey for a while. I've had beef jerky a while ago but it ain't that good.
Deer jerky, moose jerky, possum jerky... now that's some good jerky.
Somethin' 'bout beef doesn't appeal to me.
Speaking of cooking I shall teach you guys the glory of hick eatin'!
An amazing thing we got in these parts are a "swash bucket"... now what a swash bucket is, is this...
(Take notes BoMie) First ya get a potall ready like your making a stew, but you got no idea what kind of stew your makin', so ya take random junk from the fridge, cold pizza, pickles, mashed potatoos, etc. anything ya can find and throw it in and mash it all up.
It taste different everytime and if ya mash it up enouph ya don't even have to swallow and the amazing array of flavours just slides down your throat. :)
...
Yeah I'm really hungry right now... (I ran out of pickled beans! T.T)
