Back to normal NG
The Clock theme seems to have been taken down, hopefully this will dissuade users from submitting crap for clock day, and dissuade users from 5ing all flashes.

Site downage (tomorrow)
Hopefully this might be fixing some bugs, maybe updating the co-author system.

Why not send me a PM, or visit my User Page

I quite like school. 90% of all the people I've ever met, I met them in school. If it wasn't for school I'd hardly ever see my friends, and I probably would have as many friends as I wouldn't have been forced to work with anyone and get to know them.

Exam results
I'll be on holiday when the GCSE results come :( So I have to wait an extra 2 weeks.... AND miss out on getting pissed off my face at loads of parties :(

CitricSquid's Website

Pretty nice so far except it's hard to read "Sam" up the top. What type of website will it be? Just like a blog or a place to showcase your work?

I second that

You should borrow a web programming book from a library, or buy one, it would be very helpful. Or try to find someone who will do it for you for a small price, i'm sure there are some excellent web design people on the forums.

I can do graphics... in fact, my website in progress, www.imagucaj.com, is my small business website for doing small graphics for other people that want good graphics for their websites and such.

I just got 1000 EXP and was excited to see banned in the usa...i suppose it wasn't meant to be since they haven't fixed it yet. Yes I'm sure everyone has already bitched about it, but I dunno, I'm pissed.

PITTSBURGH

Moving there. Tomorrow. Leaving at 11. Getting there at 12.

Actually, I'm not moving into my house. I'm staying at a friend's place until my casa's lease starts. This is because classes at my college start the 20th, and the lease begins the 22nd. Fantastique.

Playing with the url
So I wanted that angry face picture that appears when you go to an 'invelid thread' or something like that, so I started to play with the url, hoping that at the first try i would get the error message.. but i changed the numbers to random several times and i just kept going to weird general threads.. i am sure that if what i wanted was to go to a random thread the error message would have apeared at first..

Life sucks, and then you die.

Site Downtime

I hope the site is going down so the staff can lower the scores on all Clock-Day submissions to the score they deserve... I'm not really affected at all by it but it's just disgraceful...

Doubt it. Happens every clock day really. None ever make an impact, and only a few get awards. So, I'm doubtful.

I'm hoping they're going to fix all the stuff that isnt done from the Redesign.

I would be wrong to manually edit the scores of movies. It's basically a user run portal. In my mind, editing movies scores not by voting is like a congress member stuffing ballots.

I agree. And if any movies from Clock Day make it anywhere, the people will vote on what it deserves, therefore lowering, or making its score higher. But otherwise, they will just be lost forever in Newgrounds, like so many films!

I was aware. But it kind of spiraled into something to talk about. Therefore, making it worth my time, by a long shot! And now that its over, whats next?

First problem, I don't think the URL is going to very very easy to remember.

Second problem, your site navigation's going to be hell if that intro fade in takes place every time someone presses the back button to navigate back to your menu page. I also feel it's a bit too... clunky visually. I've never been a fan of round buttons or gigantic logos.

Otherwise, very clean, and the tab order works correctly. Got to wonder what it looks like for people sans Flash, java and eyesight, but thats only because I delve too deeply into this sphere of things

Meh... that's a shame - I can't change it. Anyway... if someone liked it enough, they'd bookmark it. ;-)

Don't worry, that intro at the top is only going to happen on the front-page/index.

Otherwise, very clean, and the tab order works correctly.

Thank you. :-)

I have one question related to my site: Is it too slow how the buttons come in? I tried to make them come in slow enough so it looks like it's just loading but is it just too long to wait?

Yeah, it's a bit of a wait. Your better than average Interwebernet user will wait all of six seconds on a website before it does something before moving onto something better (this, by the way, is also a really good ballpark figure for how long they'll wait for preloaders for Flash anims on Newgrounds...). So personally, I'd make it instantanious

My personal challenge is to remake my website "entirely" in Flash and still have it work with things like the back button, dynamic content, liquid design... that sort of thing.

Of course, no site should ever just be entirely in Flash. It'll need to use XHTML somewhere, and nowadays, probably Javascript too...

I will do that and hopefully they'll just show up when loaded. If it doesn't work too well I'll just make the tweens quicker.

My site is a combination of Flash, XML and HTML code... XML is what I use for that nav bar up the top of my site.

What's XHTML?

XML Rocks. Pure and simple.

At 8/17/07 04:46 AM, ShortMonkey wrote: What's XHTML?

Standard Hypertext Markup Language since 2000, as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium has been called Extended Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML). It strictly adheres to the XML guidelines (no tags that don't close human readable, etc) , rather than the much looser SGML. It was about the time that the W3C decided that HTML should be for behavior (and data) and CSS should be for presentation. You're already using XHTML if everything conforms to that document type definition at the top of your HTML code

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-

transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

You can tell I do this kind of thing for a living now... :)
