Smoking

Forgot to add - the reason why the governments around the world are hesitating to ban smoking is because of the amount of money they get from it. I dont know about in the US, but in the UK theres duty tax on cigs and booze, which is quite high, ontop of VAT. All this money from smokers gets the goverment millions and millions of pounds every year.

Looks great, but there seems to be a little more colour twoards the top and not near the bottom of the page.

it isn't the nicotine thats bad for you, that's the addictive part. the smoke goes into your lungs and builds up tar.

I'm thinking about re-writing my site to html. It being in flash makes it really hard to update, and you cant put as much content on it easily.

Who the hell is "they?" Who is making you eat a certain way or dress a certain way? There is stigma attached to doing certain things in certain ways, but if I want to put on a dress and eat a cheeseburger there isn't anything anyone can rightly do to prevent it.

Good idea. Many people start off with flash sites and end up converting to CSS/HTML sites because of the update and content management aspects. I used to have a flash site too :P

I think portfolio's are ok if made in flash, other than that I'd use code.

There are ways to make flash sites just as manageable. In fact, I'm considering making a flash site for myself...

Well, sure, there are agencies that encourage people to eat heathy but it really isn't any different than the companies that make the shitty food in the first place and advertise it everywhere. I mean we're constantly bombarded by ads on television, on the radio, in magazines and newspapers to live an unhealthy lifestyle and eat shit, the government is far from equalizing those ads out with their pro-health message. =]

I don't think they tell us to live an unhealthy life style but they just get us to by their products which could be unhealthy, i think the government should stop paying so much for ads and do something useful with them like helping the homeless or for the US, help Katrina victims or whatever Canada or Us or any country for that mattter needs problems to be fixed

I have an html site now, and I'm finding updating to be just like I would with flash, accept I need to code things in now. With flash you just draw up stuff, then re-upload the new swf. I dunno, cuz with html its a little more user friendly, but if you make flash and the viewers are there because they've seen your flash then obviously they've got a flash player and can view your site.

Visitors not having flash isn't really a huge problems these days.. for me its just a pain to have to edit the .fla and have to re upload the .swf. I have a complete admin panel for my site.. i couldn't imagine having a flash site any more. However, a portfolio flash site would be fine because there's no need to update as often.

Abortion should be illegal as when the sperm hits the egg the baby begins to develop thus it creates life, very tiny life, but its there. It is murder, so is stem-cell research.

I think it would be awesome to do that, while u edit it, u can think of new and fun ways of making ur site better

Well, you could just write a code in AS telling the flash to get info from an HTML/txt/XML/etc. file. Then, when you update the file, the content in the flash will also update.

RE: HTML/CSS vs Flash

No doubt about it: a standard HTML/CSS site is much easier to work with and update. In fact, there aren't many things you can achieve in Flash that you can't without, even if it may take a lot more work. You can even create fully dynamic rich internet applications with AJAX.

Oh, and you could set up a flash website that gets all of its content from loading XML files. Then you would just update those files (or create a small web application to automate it) and Flash would dynamically load the new content without editing the .fla at all, and users wouldn't have to clear their caches in order to see the new content.

I've been using ValueClickMedia ads on my site for about 6 months (since Google Adsense banned me randomly) but I feel I'm being ripped off.. Seriously, last month I had about 200,000 ad impressions and about 20,000 clicks, but all I got was $37.14.. I was making alooooot more when I used Adsense.. This is mainly adressed to Dfox since he uses VCM too, but meh! Do you guys know any other good Adsense alternative that have attractive (aka annoying) ads?
