NG Voting System

I officialy hate half of NG users now. My Christmas game has a score dropping even faster than the Haloween one, which was at the time supremely annoying. Does anyone else find their scores going from 3.8-odd to below 3.5 after judgement, or does the universe just hate me?

My latest movie went down when it got out of judgement too. they almost always do. it's really odd that people vote lower AFTER it's passed. You'd think they'd all get spend there energy blamming things that are under judgement for points.

It's a pain. The portal is very strange at the moment, stuff is coming out with a few reviews, (ours atleast) had the limited amount of views give a few. Do you think maybe people are a little edgy towards giving a review or not because of the review deletion system or what?

I stopped being able to see my score before judgement altogether; but from what I saw, my newest submission went down last night, too. I think it's just the audience- Late at night and into the morning, there's a lot of foreign, non english speaking people (I've nothing against them) in the portal that vote high. In the day, you have everybody else (British, Canadian) that seem to take more time into their voting, normally making it go down, then finally setting on it's final number.

That's just my views on it, and that's just what I've seen.

And, just for the record, the reason I can't see my before judgement score is because of my garbage level, right?

Well, its always been like that, specially if you have a movie that has a score over 3.5 because its marked as a good score. And, the NG audience is attracted to shiny blue bars, so they go, and they watch it. Its just a matter of more people watching it, and it being a different audience from people who take their time with the submissions still in judgement. I went from a 4.05 to a 3.9 while in the portal, then it dramatically dropped to 3.76 when it hit fp. I noticed you hit FP, so good luck with that. Even though, you're my competition and all lol

lol, for the last contest my score plummeted on FP. It's not doing reat as it is, so hopefully the Front Page will be more like a chance card than a kiss of death. Viewers for different parts of the site are unpredictable as hell.

Anyway, at least I'm not the only one suffering :P My totay sympathy goes to anyone who's been buggered by the voters.

I dunno, both of my recent games have gotten a fair bit of exposure on FP and now on AG, with plenty of reviews, so I can't really complain in that respect. I do know that all of my unfeatured stuff's been staying in a pit of obscurity, and maybe that sitution's gotten worse lately.#

3D engine

Just out of curiosity, how many coders on this site have written 3D classes and whatever? I'm just starting; I've gotten the faces all sorted out but I've too much of a cold to make a class to link them properly right now, and in any case it's probably totally inefficient. Is it something you all tend to try out after a certain amount of time coding, or is it just a specific type of awesome coders who get into it?

Also, can someone explain the whole rotation about axes thing :P Right now I'm just working with it in pretty much the same way as I do with physics formulae - they'll give the right answer whether I understand how or not - but I still like to have a reasonable idea.

I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for most of the high scores in the Inglor collection, purely through not being bothered to actually look for stuff for the daily deposit on post days :P

My best guess is that the posting records reset every five minutes or so, so if you post in a thread at like 21:06, you won't be able to post in it again for a while, but if you post at 21:09, you'll be able to repost sooner.

Got a call from them today. They re-reviewed everyones applications and it looks like I got moved to the top of thier list. They're going to send me the full job details (complete with all important salary information) when the postal service resumes.

Well Tom must be the only responsible person here. I got his gift today, i didnt open it though because its not xmas. I CANT WAIT.

Gift exchange

Ah ya lucky moose. I didn't have to fill out a form or anything, mine was all neatly in an envelope rather than a box, it's still good though :)

I think that the gift exchange was a very fun thing to do, even though it's not over and my presant may not arrive. We should all keep this up throughout the next year and just keep sending stuff to each other.

Spacehip game

Hey I just thought i'd post this. Me and Frosted muffins began on our Spaceship game again today after a break for Baron. There's not alot to show, and nothing of a 'game', more of a weak engine. But I think it's quite good fun to play with.

That game looks rather sweet. I rather like the death animations for the red ray. The bombs are pretty awesome too, but I'm sure they'll be tons nicer once you can actually asplode something. Once it's an actual game, I'll be sure to five.

I've been playing about with 3D stuff for a few years now, in various formats. Whilst the BR games do use some 3D techniques, I've not released anything with a rotational axis yet. I was working on one with John & Richie, but it fell through. Here's as far as I got with it:

PK Game demo

Arrow keys/ASWD to move, Q&E to switch weapons, space to fire. Hold down fire to throw the grenades and mines.

When I look back on the code now, it's pretty terrible. One day I'd love to get something like this done properly, but I certainly won't be using any of that code!
