What's the best way to scroll large 800x600 (or bigger) blocks stitched together without lag? What image format should I use? jpg, bmp, png?

I just bought a ps3, what games should I get? (i already have an xbox and a wii so I'd prefer suggestions which are exclusive)

Gran Turismo 5
Little Big Planet
God of War 3
Uncharted: 1 and/or 2
add me: funkycaveman if you want a game of something.
Quick programming question. I use the "is" and "as" keywords in AS3 once in a while. Are there equivalents in other programming languages, specifically C++ and Java?

GT5 is actually really good. Not much has changed but there's something really nice about what they've done with it.
I would add flOw to that list, its a great game. I never owned any of the PS3 ones but Ratchet & Clank was an epic game on PS2, might want to check that out I dunno.
New Ratchet and Clanks are still good but not as good as the old ones. Feels like they're losing something.

I don't think I've ever had to use "is" but I assume that's for class datatyping? Like "var truth:Boolean = myArray is Array;" ? Other languages might have equivalents to getDefinitionByName and getQualifiedClassName which you can use to check for class datatyping.

RTTI for similar functionality to "is" (though I HIGHLY recommend you instead have some sort of flag you store yourself in the base class to indicate what it is instead)
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ty pecasting/
casting for similar function to the "as" keyword

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was looking for. It looks like it would be a good idea to minimize the amount of "is" I use, if only for future coding endeavors. I also realized shortly after posting that I pretty much use the "as" keyword for the sake of auto-complete in FlashDevelop. lul
$44 for ad revenue from a game I made a year ago. Just in time for Christmas.
Also the super meat boy cut scenes are shit.

yea i sorta agree. Dunno if they transfered better on the pc version but on the xbox version you can see alot of hairline seams in the graphics and it makes it look amateur.
None
Working from Home
I've been working from home today because of the snow and I've actually been ridiculously productive considering I'm still in bed. I've made a crossword game that uses json to manage all the different puzzles, so any one can add/remove more crosswords just by using a text editor.
Anyone else find that being snowed in is actually pretty good for your work ethic?

And me, but I really like the retro links in the cut scenes. I was extremely impressed by gameplay and in-game graphics though. Still yet to complete it...

Yeah, nowadays I actually consider working on stuff. Perhaps I'll be able to actually get something done when the next ice age swings by.

Like getting NG Medals back online.

Exactly :)
I love snow it makes me cheerful! Not sure if it made me more productive or not. I usually go in phases of having 2 weeks productive, 2 months lazy.

Lucky! Did you have much snowfall? I had about 0.5" not enough for any kind of daily activities.
This is a cold December.

We've got about 2 foot here, but it doesn't actually seem that cold though. I've felt it colder.
Where abouts in London are you living now btw?
Working from Chile ;)
New little game. Supposed to be pretty fun

It never snows here... I've never seen real snow ever in this lifetime.

Doesn't makes it less bag.

Without further ado...:

2009? Not 2010?
Anyway, I would like everyone to consider this guy for Best Newcomer. I'm not even sure if he is even eligible or fits the category description, but man is he friendly!
That, or Man of the Year. Whichever category he suits more.
I'll place my votes after thinking about it a bit more. Can't really remember the past 11 months (issue with a power drill and a frying pan, don't ask), so I'm probably going to have trouble deciding on a few things.

Totally off topic but, damn i love that film! Robin Williams is a gem.
Also, Corporation Inc. did 2 million plays on Armor Games in under 2 weeks! I can't even imagine what the worldwide plays are, although its not on NG/kong yet. Its gotta be a new record for me though, i'm stoked!!

Sorry about double post but I love that game. You did an awesome job.

Yeah we had at least a foot here. I think. Didn't measure.

Chile! How come?
On a semi related note I'm flying to Laos in 5 hours on a one way ticket. Shitting bricks, but excited. I'm not going forever, just until I get bored of working in a bar.

I really liked it, you and John did a really good job on it.

Just so you know, after playing for a while the whole game went to hell. At the night of day 10 I build a new office all the way to the right. when I scrolled back left most of the offices on the left didn't show up anymore, but the workers where still there. Elevators don't work anymore, and workers just continue standing before them, not even leaving for the night. Somehow, the research complete keeps popping up without saying which research it is, and obviously no actual research get's done anymore.
the whole thing has become unplayable, which sucks because I actually liked it up to the point when it all went wrong.

I'm about 6 weeks into a 3-month backpacking trip through South-America :) Have fun in Laos, I've heard good stories about that part of the world.
