Man, I'm so between buying that and Left 4 Dead 2, I think I'll wait 'til November 17th and then, if I've got some money left in my empty pokets, I guess I'll give Modern Warfare 2 a shot, I bet it must be great...

I think I'm going to get left 4 dead2,
valve isn't too shabby either when it comes to sequels.
I never had the first, but they had a free PC demo up on steam.
Pret-ty sweet, but i'm still a teeny bit unsure.

I pre-ordered it at Play.com, they guaranteed it would be here on release day but it didn't arrive (they only shipped it Monday night!). I hope it arrives today (well, Wednesday, it's technically Wednesday), because I do want to plays it >:P

If anyone wants a game (PS3) add me: jimpuk

I shall, I'm 'notliam' btw if anyone hasn't added me :p

Not to add to the Video Game Regs Lounge, but I've discovered that if you buy popular games on Amazon as preorder they usually give you a $10-20 coupon for your next game. I preordered MW2 and got a $20 coupon towards Mario Bros Wii (got it for $26), then I got a coupon from that for another $10. A lot better than whatever you're getting a retail.

In other news my wife is painting acrylic paintings of some of my Flash games for the AG office. Super awesome.

Super awesome indeed!
Take some pics for us please!

Oh, and remember that the only reasonable gift you can give back are games based on her paintings.

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders.

By the way, I made the 'Create an Animated Sprite' preloader for Sprite TV 3!

Working Out
Does anyone here work out?
I've just started doing it and I'm just wondering if anyone else does.
If so what exercises do you do?
How much weight/reps?
And what's your targets?

sometimes when i go from my room to the kitchen i try to to it really fast even though there's stairs on the way. Most of the time it's because I go get a drink during the 20 seconds respawn timer.

Does that count as working out?

I started working out a couple years ago. I decided that if I was going to be doing Flash for 40 hours a week I needed to get in shape and get away from the computer more. Working towards something like a big bike event or running event is what has kept me going since then. I did my half marathon and my 100 mi bike ride this year and next year I want to work towards a full marathon.

I do weight lifting twice a week and try to do some sort of cardio once a week when not training. When training for a cardio-related event I try to work out 3 times a week at least, at least 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes lifting. On Sundays I would do an extended cardio (like 2-5 hours) to get set for the run/ride.

When i lift I try to focus on only one thing. It might be bicep night, back night, legs night, etc... just work a muscle group at a time then return to it in a week or so. That's worked for me fairly well. Since i am trying to bulk more than tone I do high weight/ low rep(reps of 15) instead of lighter weight with more reps (reps of 30).

Also hang out with someone who knows the equipment or take out a personal trainer/class to get used to it. Using equipment wrong (or using just the wrong equipment for the job) is a waste of time. Having someone just get you in gear is so useful, especially in a gym environment.

Alot of intresting stuff about working out

I rock climb :) 3/4 times a week in the gym. On holidays I sometimes climb outside ( the actual rock climbing ). I probably train hmmm..... 10- 15 hours a week or so ( Being only 15 years old that´s kinda much ).

It was all worth it when I became dutch youth champion ... Probably won't mean much too you guys but it's something special for me.

I hope this is an answer to your question, or are you only talking about weightlifting and stuff?

Working Out
I started running about a year back. At the moment I run about three times a week, 2 times a good 7 miles, and once a week a somewhat faster 2 miles. I never really was a sporty kinda guy but I enjoy running a lot, besides I spend far too much time sitting on my ass all day. I'm planning to do half a marathon this summer, did a good 10 miles about a week ago, and that went pretty well, so I think I'll manage.

Woot! Finally 17.

I can buy mature games !

Now I have a year to make something worthwhile before I'm considered " adult".
I just like to think of this as the last year before the year that doing a big thing isn't as special.
Meh, my thoughts.

Fitting Into The Equation

As a writer and a programmer, I find there isn't really much I can do with my talents when it comes to interactive media without an artist. That being said, how does a writer fit into the equation of interactive media? When can a writer make a legitimate claim to contributing to a project? I understand a lot of newbies around here who want to spout fanfics and claim to be a writer want to try to fill the position, but what happens when a legitimate writer wants to offer himself?

Something that I've always aspired to do was to create a flash animation series, correspondent game, and in-universe novel. A triple threat in regards to entertainment and a legitimate seed for a strong franchise. Seeing as I have the programming capabilities to see the project through in all aspects, I just need the artistic touch.

My question then is, how would a writer approach an artist and ask for such a dedication? It's difficult to get someone to agree to work on a project without full-disclosure, something a writer such as myself would be reticent to do to avoid plagarism. I've got the idea in my head and I'm about 15% done with the novel, with a projection of being completed by Q1 2010. I'm looking into taking a screenplay course next semester so I'd have that experience as well. I've got the skill to plan a game and build an engine. This is where I'm at a loss. I'm ready to do it, I just don't have anyone who wants to back me up. I need help guys. Quality help.

I just started a blog: [ http://www.totheblankpage.com ]. It contains a few of my poems and a flash fiction story. It'll be updated often and I'll be starting a short story series as soon as National Novel Writing Month is over. So, what do you guys think?

@Deathcon

I think you pretty much answered the question yourself. Its going to be very hard (if not impossible) to find someone to take on such a huge workload, especially if youre not going to disclose information about the project during developement.

For something of this scale I really think you need to work closely with someone you can trust, rely on and get excited with, as well as bounce off when dev times start to drag out. Theres really no point looking for someone at a place like Newgrounds, unless you find someone to work on some smaller projects with to build up a working relationship. That, or commissioning an artist would be the way to go imo!

Working Out
I am not very loyal to my schedule of working out. However I do weights and running every so often.

Travelling
Just bought my tickets to South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos). I'll probably run a blog which I will link later on. Leaving on 4/12/09 solo for 5 months. Excited, but also very nervous!

IMO for small scale and flash projects if you want to be a writer or designer then it is REQUIRED that you are also an artist or a programmer.

Programmers can do just fine without an artist. Learn how to use special effects.
Well for certain types of games at least.

I'm surprised no one has referenced "Dick Neck" yet.

Being as I'm a swimmer, I usually swim an intense 2 hour workout with my club team that covers at least 5000 yards per day. At the gym, I do endurance reps to help swimming (10 reps will build bulky muscle which would make me slower in the pool). For bench press I do 100 pounds with the 20 reps per set (3 sets).
