eh, cloud computing is cool and all, but it's never going to replace standard desktop usage, although it will become very prominent in certain markets (hosting and commercial usages (like, companies)).

I've just been reading up on cloud networks on Wiki and various other articles and I'm interested. I see cloud networks as the way forward but I'm not sure that the OS is going to die that quickly, but things in computing change fast. Maybe in 10 years we'll all be using cloud networks, or maybe it's just another fad. Either way though it's going to be a big blow for the larger software industries but good news for indy developers. I mean if you make a killer app then all you need to do is get some small publicity and the rest will snowball, right, or maybe not?

What does everyone else think?

Check out the latest "rumors and shit" about Google Chrome (The operating system, not the browser)

They basically said that the current operating systems that exist were made before there were browsers to run on them, and that google's operating system will be fully intergrated with the web, i dont exactly know HOW, but google's always good for that sorta thing :P

I think i read something about how thats going to be more of a "netbook" kinda thing, both Azure and Google Chrome OS are from what i've read, very light based OS's to take on Linux in the netbook department. Other than that i think its going to be a normal Mac Vs Pc Vs partly Linux on the desktops with their bulky OS's.

But 2 OS wars now, sheesh!

Also did anybody see the new apple mouse?

Magic mouse

I personally think its going to take a little bit to get used to, but i may just pick one up at my local apple store, it looks really neat :P

It's sometimes quite hard to get graphics looking realistic when working in Flash MX 2001 and being crap at graphic design.

How does this crate look?

Nice crate, but the edges need toned down. They're too sharp. In real life even metal is rarely that sharp. Round off the squares just a tiny bit and you'll be set. Good job on it, looks really cool.

No, sadly not. I'm flying Mac at the office. But I do suggest the font Andale Mono for programming, it's a very nice font.

I just saw 'Up' (in a theater packed with kids and parents, I felt a bit out of place with my mates and bottle of beer). Anyway, it was great, first real film I've seen that's in 3D too, which was much better than I though it would be. It really adds to the experience in a subtle way. I thought it would be really intrusive and lead to those forced situations as seen in the final destination trailer... but it didn't! Hurray!

Now back to coding...

I still need to see Up. I heard it was sad. I don't like sad movies...

Otherwise there's always Toy Story 3!

Up looks good but all my mates don't want to go and see a 'kids' film.

Pixar movies are great because they aren't just for "kids" or "adults" but have something for everyone. Besides, a lot of awesome stuff is technically for kids. It's still awesome. :P

And that crate looks identical to the other crate. Sorry, I don't see a difference. Did you post the same file twice?

Smack your mates for me. And yes, it's a sad film at times, the intro is pretty heartbreaking. But it's good fun most of the time, it also has scores of jokes kids won't understand.

Also does this look better.

Looks better but I'd take away a few more chips of metal, and make a few of those straight lines crooked&curved. You'd be amazed what a small amount of things that are composed of other things have actual straight lines. If that made any sense.

sorry if it didn't.

I put 6 smoothing on the edges. I'll try 10 smoothing.

that is so lame. i really don't have too much respect for people who think they're too mature to watch a certain show or do a certain thing because they think it's only for kids. I don't think you should care about what other people think and just go do whatever you think is fun. Don't base what you do off of your age (unless it's like age restricted stuff).

Obviously there is a line for this kind of thing but me and my friends still watch spongebob. that is one badass show.

Yeah, my wife and I visit our younger cousins once a week and use them as an excuse to watch the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network sometimes. :)

Not really as an excuse, since I flip them on when I'm at home too. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is one of my favorite shows these days. Good stuff.

it got canceled :'(

but anyway.....

I also hate when people say you are too old for something.

Like animation, people are always like,"cartoons are for kids." tell that to hayoa miazaki(if that's how you spell it) I couldn't live without his movies.

also I was playing back to the cubeture and my mom walked in and looked for a second and said, "what are you? two?" I told cuboy it was alright, poor guy...

It annoys me as well when everyone is like animation is childish. i bet everyone really has their own secret childish pleasures though.

Boo. Well, at least it was awesome while it was on, and no one can take that away... I think shows shouldn't go on forever anyway, because they get stale.

I saw it yesterday, it's great but there were a few moments where I was trying to hold back a tear or two. It's not an out and out sad film, but it does get emotional.

Also, Partly Cloudy (the cartoon shown before Up) was ace too.
