I really like how all of wiesi's games give me a huge adrenaline rush every time i play them. Being a shark that can pull down these ridiculously gigantic spacecrafts is icing on the cake.

In terms of core gameplay, I can't say that it's the most original out there (jumping and repeatedly hitting a button) but the way it's implemented just gives a whole new feeling to it and makes it really fun and entertaining.

The one thing I don't like is that most of his games end so quickly that it'd probably be hard to take one of his ideas and turn it into a full fledged title. I'm interested in seeing what he has up his sleeves though because all his games are just plain fun.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I don't think it being a minigame is in anyway a point against the game. There's nothing wrong with delivering an amuse bouche if it can trump the main course. This game is fresh, interesting, and makes me giggle. Maybe not eternally deep and maybe doesn't have RPG elements or breasts but that doesn't take away from what it is.

Yeah, score is slightly high... that'll come down once it gets the Top 50 list royal treatment.

I'm not saying just because it's a minigame means it needs a bad score I'm just saying replay value for me to be honest is low. I've played it through twice but for that concept I don't find it all that fresh or new. I find it a slightly less fun version of this.

Also is it just me or is mega shark versus giant octopus the best worst film ever.

But that's the thing. A better score doesn't mean it's necessarily trumped it. It's exceptionally common for a quick little do to triumph a game that somebody really put a lot of effort into. And not just that - a game that, for all intents and purposes, has much more *value* to it. Score is a matter of amusing someone until they vote, so a 30 second clip with a popular punchline (anything by C&H) will often "trump" a really solid, well-animated, and lengthy animation.
The problem lies in that this leads to more exposure for less work, discouraging authors from pushing the limits of Flash. On one hand, it's giving people what they want. On the other hand, people are assholes.

maybe doesn't have RPG elements or breasts but that doesn't take away from what it is.

It's funny, because a lot of his games do sell themselves entirely with tits, and RPG elements are beyond his programming prowess.

Haha, it's a good bad film, to be sure. Not the best though. The more conscious you are that you're making a piece of shit, the less appeal it has. That's why modern day garbage can't beat the classics.

I'm going to get one this time, maybe a shirt too. Only question is how much does shipping to UK add to the price?

Dammit, it's time Paypal was added as a form of payment in the NG store if you ask me. I get all sorts of payments transferred to my Paypal account that are too small to transfer to my bank account without losing relatively large amount to fees. And the shipping costs are too high (30$ on average) to buy only small stuff. I'm going to have to get myself a credit card one of these days...

I just want to know, how did you come into contact with newgrounds.

I first got on newgrounds after I had first seen sprite flashes on grab.com. Then I think I somehow came along some link or google search for sprites or mario movies or whatever. I went on from there.

how about you? :3

um... I make movies?

I don't know, alcohol ruined my memory.

I think one of my friends linked me to some flash movies a couple of times... I do remember I used to think the site was actually called newsgrounds.

I don't pay any fees when I deposit to my bank account, but I guess it's because I'm in the USA. It is a bit strange that they don't accept paypal as a form of payment though...

I was messing around with flash a bit and tried making earth out of boredom. I'm thinking of using this for a future flash.

I just love that this film is the vehicle "Deborah" Gibson used to mount her big "comeback". Still, I'm a sucker for bullshit over the top disaster films. I'm just dying to see how many bad disaster clichés Roland Emmerich can stuff into 2012. :)

I was on a site called ugoplayer a while ago and liked watchin flash movies. One of my friends told me about this site and that it has a lot MORE than ugoplayer I checked it out and watched some flash movies. I was continually on and off newgrounds and ugoplayer because newgrounds had some super bad stuff (I was 9 back then) but had a lot of stuff, while ugoplayer didn't have that bad of stuff but had rarely nothing.
I finally stayed with this site after the redesign and made a account. The original sign up of my old account was early 07'.

same here, cept when i was one it it was called flashplayer. i found NG in either 02 or 03, made an account, forgot it, and after sorta drifting around the internet for a while, i found newgrounds again, made an account just as i was learning flash, and i haven't left since.

Finding Newgrounds

My cousin gave me a trial of Flash after we discovered stickdeath.com at age 12 or 13
then
My friend Syruplord showed me Genyu's Blade here on Newgrounds when we were like 13 (it was at the top of the 50 list with like a 4.16. that was pretty darn good back in the day.)

whatever! I wasn't even alive back then :P

How I discovered Newgrounds.
A short and embarrassing story by ReNaeNae

I was attempting to make a 'powerpoint presentation' for a client. They wanted 'bouncing buttons'. A 'colleague' said "Flash can do that." I was like... "sweet, I have that ...came with Freehand or some crap. I can learn this!!"

I couldn't learn this.

I went to flashkit to look for assistance. At some point, I saw a post saying "thanks for all of the help with my first flash cartoon" ...I was like "wait, watt? ...cartoon?!?" I followed the link... to newgrounds. Being the dumb blond that I am, I was all "no wai did they make this whole site in flash... what a liar, whatEV!!" *close* duh

A short time later, I followed another link (for a tutorial or something) back to newgrounds. I was like "watt?!? this place again?" Then I noticed the really huge 'CLICK TO WATCH', and I went "...oOOooh!" *lightbulb... like 10 watt* ...discovered some great animations ...discovered the flash forum ...discovered collabs ...etc. ...history.

I ended up having the 'colleague' do the flash stuff. He charge $4,000 ...for something I now know probably took (and I could easily do myself in) about an hour. Ouch!

The end.

Drip drop a lovely dream.

First timez

I think the first movie i saw was Scrotum the Puppy, i was drawn to the site by a club a seal banner ad that tom did. And after that I was pretty much hooked, i wanted to be bad and 'cool' like the other cool people submitting stuff so as most new users, my shit was immature and dirty. I eventually outgrew it and became more interested in the collaborative aspect of flash and so here we are almost 10 years later.

i was at my cousin's place and we were watching retarded animal babies and decline of videogames on the site. I didn't see the significance of the site at the time.

Then when i had some games to show off i submitted one here and was like "woah it appears on the site right away"

Personally my first time visiting the site was back when Assassin and Pico's School was cool. Then when I was in Uni someone linked me to the Legendary Frog page and I fell into a bad crowd at Joey's forums...

Didn't I, Tom?

And then I gravitated here.
