I might be charged 5000$ or fired from teh theater!

:O

I work at a movie theater as most of you know, every thursday i'll come in and piece together the movies that come out friday, then i'd take apart the movies that we no longer show.

Well anyways, i found out tonight that one of the movies i broke down yesterday went to another cheap-seats theater, and it was "unuseable" and therefor the head office place is super pissed at our theater, "their projectionist" or "me" in other words.

I was just using the equipment that they provided for the record, it wasn't an outside job :P In my opinion this should be like blatantly saying "the film fucks up every time i break down, get us better shit to work with!" but no, our company is so cheap they wont even send someone to fix a broken projector for 3 months. (Which would be counter productive really)

Anyways thats my story, i'll keep you posted, and whether i get fired or w/e...not a big deal really, the job's quite shitty.

I gotta get makin them flash games like jimp does, and where the hell is Liaaaaam?

If you work as a projectionist you better be splicing single frames of pornography in to the movies.

So when the snooty cat and the courageous
dog with the celebrity voices first meet,

that's when you'll catch a flash
of Tyler's contribution to the film.

Haha, I wish I worked at a theater. And that blurb of text was a quote from Fight Club, hence why it said Tyler.

But yeah, I was kidding. Don't do that.

For the programmers out there, does anyone have a better 'get name from hitTest' method than mine?
I've been wondering about the best way to do it for some time now, and the largest problem with mine is that it doesn't work well with moving objects.

And yes, I know how to use a goddamn loop

I tend to get tired of typing flash's built in functions sometimes cause they're longer to type and i'm lazy, so i made myself a class which is basically a set of the same functions but less typing.

Example: getNextHighestDepth();
Fuck that ! That one is the worst.
attachMovie() not as bad but i switched it to newClip.

Anyone else do something like that ?

Magic

Or you look through the page source for the post (search for text from it or the poster's name or something), look slightly higher for where it says 'bbspost[number]_heading', and then make the URL that of the original page plus '#bbspost[number]_heading' (remember the #).

Then go to the page you want to link to, for example:

and append #bbspost[POSTID]_heading

does depth swapping cause objects cached as bitmap to redraw and recache?

So I've got this pickle, and I'll ask you wise sages about it. We just wrapped up this collab oozing with potty humour and dick jokes. It's 12.8Mb. The organizer has PM'd Tom and all, but if you read his latest news update, he won't be looking at anything until after Denver...and I don't blame him a goddamn bit for that. Any thoughts or wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Today was a great day to strike. Lot's of orange in the portal.

Yes. Don't worry about quotations. I manage to fuck that up regularly. There are a few exotic assets in it, like some flv playback stuff, but it's sparing, and I edited the hell out of it, as to not be wasteful. I mean, we're 2.8 Mb over the 10 Mb cap. That's not really egregious. If this goes sideways the only thing left to do, is what you propose, and downgrade the audio publish settings. I was really hoping to avoid that though. C'est la vie.

But for future reference, Tom isn't the only one on this website with power :)

Just watched some videos and read some comments. Sounds quite bad.
There's always a delicate balance between protecting people of power and not causing harm to pedestrians, but it certainly sounds as though they went too far. Remember that some [if not most] officers are honestly trying to keep the peace and do their job (although may have gotten caught up in the action and made some bad instinct decisions), but I'm sure others joined the force just to cause suffering.
The problem is, how can you tell which is which before you put them in an actual situation?

In my experience, looking at cached bitmaps crosseyed causes them to redraw and recache.

By all means experiment to see what works, but in my experience just exporting bitmaps externally has saved a lot of hassle if not filesize.
