And so the sequel to Alice has started. Not much of a break, oh well, it's fun to get right back at it.

Flash crashes for me a bit. Thankfully I've learned to break big projects up before the final version when everything's done and is slapped together then touched up and uploaded.

Crashing sucks especially when you've spent an hour plus working on something important to you.

I actually was off hookers for a while, then more recently my brother got the new and updated version cs4 with silicon breasts so i installed that baby on my new "laptop" (if you know what i mean) and realised that the insides are what im used to and i have no idea how to adjust the alpha of a symbol or something else basic like that, so im going to probably install my old cs3 (first flash i bought legally yay :D) on here. i probably would have everything i need in mx 2004 so im not really expecting to upgrade anytime soon.

Back to homework, we get to use the XNA framework to make some game of our choosing. I'm trying to convince the guys in my group that we don't have the time to make a huge awesome cool game right off the bat lol. A mario zombie mix with multiplier abilities should be fine. lol

I use CS4 now, once you get used to it its really alright. I have a few issues with it, like getting rid of the option for "motion tween" and ONLY having "classic tween"

also with alpha, once you change your alpha and select a new colour from the toolbar, it keeps the alpha from before, which i suppose is handy when you colouring everything a certain colour, except i always reset my alpha to max by choosing a new colour on toolbar, which makes it odd for me :P

Other than that, i have absolutely no problems with the updates they made to CS4, just change the display setup to "classic mode" and its pretty much the same old layout we know and love :)

Okay so basically at the end of every one of my animation classes whoever wants to gets a chance to show off an animation they found on the internet.

i'm pretty much teh only one who's been volunteering so far, and i've been showing the class NG flashes, and they love them.

anyone wanna recommend a few for me to show the class?

If you want to impress them, chlauds stuff is perfect of course.. HappyHarrys stuff is also good for animation + comedy. For something different, Mindchambers madness animation ("with my minds madness") is fucking awesome.

Do you have your action history set to a large number? I think that is a big part of why it crashes, I set mine down to 20 or something and it reduced my crashing a lot.

The glitch is due to having the two clips being named the same
Flash will compile the class for the clip, as having a variable of the first type it encounters under that name, and ignore anything having the same name, assuming that it is the same object/of the same type without giving an error or anything
Thus when it attempts to cast the second object to the type of the variable, you get the runtime error.

Adobe should issue an error in the case of casting to different classes like this, and a warning in the case of casting to the same class (i.e. both clip1 or both movieclip)

and they should also have custom classes in the "treat as" drop down menu when placing a clip on the stage so I can make them all movieclips instead of linkage "clip1"/"clip2" classes
