Roadhouse, Ghost, Point Break, Dirty Dancing, the man was a legend.

Ghost is one of my biggest guilty pleasures EVER. I watch it whenever it is on TV.

That looks like a cool event, let us know how it pans out. It would be good for newgrounds to be better about keeping a pulse on flash /game development events and conferences like that. Maybe even to the point where are able to finance a person or two that lives near the event to go in and be the communities' eyes and ears.

Recently mike attended the Flash on Tap event up in Boston and he thouroughly enjoyed it as a programmer, he said I probably wouldnt have found as much value as an animator but even little info like that about events is a great thing. Knowing what event caters to what niche.

DING!

Remember how I was workin' on a game few months back and couldn't get the game over screen to work?
I'm not a programmer and never got it workin' working at it on/off so I said fuck it and decided to turn it into a very interactive Duders short. Theirs a few lil' things that still annoy me 'bout it, but I got no time to focus on remaking the programming for an old game. Glad to see I found a way to get it out there though.

The story for the game - the scenes are special to me. This was one of the first times in a bit I managed to recreate what I imagined almost exactly how I'd like it and it turned out wonderfully.

Ive discovered my own art inspires me to animate even more - especially when the other Duder E. staff compliments it.

I like this. I feel I've made it to another stepping stone up the way. I look at my last 4 submissions and they all have a great new look to 'em that was the look I was after when I started animating. No offense to the Super Flash Bros, but starting off with tween inspired card board cut out characters was probably not the best first step. Especially just getting into flash - it wasn't until Jay Short 1 & 2 and Jay Vs. Val 1 that I started FBF and mixing the two.

Yes happiness. I have found my style for sure and I can now only continue to improve upon it.

I'm surprised at how many explosions, smoke, arrows, axes, animated units and dynamic backgrounds I can have on-screen, without knowing jack shit about (efficient) programming, whilst keeping a steady framerate. Today is a good day.

I've been going to a lot of events recently, just 2 weeks ago I won Dim a copy of Flash CS4 at an Adobe sponsored poker tournament, after winning myself a copy last year. Every month theres the London Flash Platform User Group meetings, which I presented at a few months back. Plus Flash Camp, Flex Camp and now FOTB. The London/UK flash scene is pretty busy!

It always amazes me how few 'real life' flash developers have heard of NG, or if they have, who think of it as 'that anime porn site'. Sad :(

It's true though, NG isn't exactly a site the average flash developer would care to visit since it's full of rude and immature little kids (or at least 99% of it is)

I was going to go to the poker tournament thing, but I couldn't be bothered to rush off from work and get into London just to play poker with a bunch of programmers which actualy doesn't really make sense :P

Is the LFPUG still in Farringdon? I went once because I worked right next to it, but I didn't really enjoy it and wasn't worth the extended work day

Tom's been doing a pretty good job of getting out of that whole feel, though. I've no idea how someone could go about improving the image of Newgrounds on a global scale - it's really a pioneering site and a force for massive good on the Flash scene and nobody seems to care.

I was thinking about going, but the tickets were as much as a festival, so yeah. Tickets were pretty limited too, amirite?

I guess I should start going to some of these things but as an "art guy" I dont know how much of it would actually be relevant/interesting to me. Id probably get more out of going to a meetup and making a load of contacts.

I think Newgrounds does have a slightly shit rep, but it is getting better. I went for a drink with Mike from 4t2 Media and he spoke very favorably of NG as a community, but from a business and industry standpoint its just not seen as "important" any more for some reason. This is as a real fucking shame considering it was so innovative early on, but I guess the corporate giants have overtaken it due to monies and other shit.

NG just doesnt seem to get the traffic compared to other sites, hitting a million views is so hard here unless youre having the shit featured out of your game. The market is so saturated now that nostalgia just doesnt stand up against lots of money and investment, which again is a real shame. Hopefully Po3/Behemoth will help bring it back to the top of the game :)

Fuck it, NG will always be my home <3

I dont know how much of what I just wrote made sense, very tired.

Yeah, by the time I decided I wanted to go, tickets were about £460. Luckily, Rob Bateman is selling me a spare early bird pricing ticket, so I'm only going to pay £260ish, plus hotel etc.

I agree that artists are usually left out of these kind of events, but you should definately come along to the poker next time - free to play, free bar all night, sweet prizes and best of all, all sorts of flash people, not just programmers.

I wanna get drunk.
But with flash people.

I'm saying it now - if their ain't going to be a NG meet close to my parts in B.C. Canada then I'm going to be the sucker to host and pay for it. Assuming I can round up enough people to go also assuming people would come, fly, or actually live in the general area.

I wish a fellow NGer lived near. Then I could run down and get drunk and talk flash with him/her.
What day is it? Tuesday? Shitty... much to early in the week to get drunk. Where's that peotry book I'm writing? I guess I'll pick that up....

I should to start not posting half posts and half thoughts on this thing... but when theirs a keyboard and being so use to letting it vomit out my mind onto this machine... its difficult.

Also some evil creature stole my herbs last night.
