I don't know Cherokee Jack, who is coming today?

Oh ho, dare you say the ferry boat has a broken propeller? It'll take a mechanic 3 weeks to get out here! It's far to dangerous to ford the river, you can only bring back 200 pounds of buffalo!

Say hi to everyone for me Kirk.

Not sure how old this game is, but I just found it saturday, and it's quite possibly my favorite flash game ever. It's easily the most entertaining game I've played in a year. I've gotten 1003 coins, which isn't really me bragging, but kinda is. I've also died 3264 times, soooooo lots of time wasted..... or.. occupied. If skill games aren't your thing you probably wont like it, but if they are it is awesome.

It's been around a while. I got bored after 100 coins when I realized just how much more I had to play to complete the tower.

So, Does anyone here remember my Audio-Flash Collab idea? It picked up some steam with entries from Luis, and other known flash artists. Although it never made it through due to a lack of Flash artists willing. Even though I had more saying they would enter, they never pulled through on it.

Is it worth trying again, In the future?

Wow, I just watched Pan's Labyrinth for the first time and that movie was amazing. I could have easily watched it as two separate movies, both well made (the war portion, and the faeries and such portion), but instead they were overlapped perfectly to make this amazing film.
So, anyone else seen it?

The basic idea was to have around 30seconds of random music submitted by popular Audio Artists, and have Flash artists animate exactly what they imagined the 'soundtrack' would look like. I got a lot of kind words from artists, But they never evolved into anything.

I just added the animations in to the character in closure. He's a stick figure right now but starogre is drawing over it, I just needed something to program.

There's currently 24 states. We're missing about 4 states, and by the end of the project there'll probably be 12-18 more states for this character.

But my god you wouldn't believe how easy it is to add in animations and animation logic when you have your own graphics engine and don't have to work around flash's limited graphics engine.

Telling if the current animation was over was as simple as adding that function to my sprite class. I can control how fast animations run with one simple command. I can tweak the inner working of my class to insure animations don't freeze unless I want them too.

It's great. And 60 FPS is BEAUTIFUL for the game to run at.

Hopefully the graphics engine will be the next big priority on Adobe's list because it sucks. Needs to just be rewritten, but that won't happen with Adobe who are obsessed with just piling more and more crap on with each flash player release.

What language are you programming closure in? C++?

Hahahaha flash's graphics engine is BEAUTIFUL. It's the only real thing I miss in c++, despite me liking having more control over animations and such. Actionscript is such a funky language though after getting used to c++ it's hard to deal with its inconsistencies.

Adobe needs to use the GPU a bit though. But really, don't knock flash's graphics until you try to do antialiasing in something else. I turned it on for closure, all it did was blur everything so I turned it off and said "i'll let flash export the antialiasing right into the PNG textures".

What language are you programming closure in? C++?

Yes

For fuck sake

I was just reading up on a game because I wanted to get it for Mac - but it's not Mac native. A forum thread asking why it isn't turned into a flame war on Macs.

Oh macs, look at there price, they can't run games, Windows is the best. Most of the posters, obviously hasn't even tried any other OS apart from Windows.

They were complaining about the price of macs and adding all the components together and complaining that you pay like £450 on the OS, it fucking pisses me off. Now I've used Windows for 8 years now, a couple of Linux Distros for half a year and Mac for 8 months and each has there fucking pros and cons but apparently no one will take any of that into consideration. I haven't needed to use an anti virus yet on my Mac, but the firewalls there obviously whilst my Windows pc had Comodo Firewall and Anti Virus along with Spybot to protect it, now this doesn't bother me at all and it's a known fact window machines get more viruses purely because more people have them and soon the Mac community will have to get better protection for there computers so why does everyone have to flame the whole "Macs dont get viruses"? Yeah, they're are pretty dire but my Macbook is the greatest item i've invested in so far. It's a great laptop and the OS is superb.

I'm not trying to start a debate here I'm just mega pissed at the idiots who flame Mac.

Have fun

get used to it. I've used macs my entire life. Not once did I install any virus protection and not once have I ever got a virus (well I did get one while running parallels but only on the windows virtualization :P)

Fact of the matter is the whole "there's no viruses cause nobody uses macs" is such a bad counter to that argument. Nevermind that it's not even a con or anything, it's like "everyone does drugs so you should too" logic. No there's a 12% market share, and higher if you just count laptops (like 25% in the laptop market I think). People carry business on their laptops. Fact of the matter is, people make viruses for 2 things: profit, and notoriety. There's more profit from hacking windows machines, but oh god imagine the notoriety you could get if you made the one mac virus that infected everyone. Also, most mac users are unprotected because norton is such a waste of money and there's no need for any protection on a mac. It seems like it should be an easy target, right? If that's the case, how come there is literally only 1 trojan that currently infects macs, that never spread much anyway?

It all comes down to personal preference in the end though, but uniformed flames really really piss me off. I still hear people say "there's only 1 mouse button lols!"
