You should probably get a bigger keyboard. That's what I had to do.

Hi Housemates

This is to inform you that LANDLORD may be visiting the property (depending on how previous appointments go) on Thursday 19 November at 6.45 - 7.45 pm to show round prospective tenants for next year.

We have keys and will unlock and relock rooms where necessary. The visitors will be accompanied at all times.

If you could have the house nice and tidy this will speed up the sale and minimise any disruption to you.

Many thanks.
LANDLORD

"We have keys and will unlock and relock rooms where necessary, because remember, you have no privacy".

Holy fuck this is gonna be good; "don't move in, this house is shit" is essentially what I'm gonna say. I'm also tempted to make the house a mess, because, quite frankly, no part of that email was endearing. In fact most of it was just offensive.

In other news, I'm glad that you lot have worse interwebs than me! Well, by glad I mean I'm sorry for you, but it makes me feel better! :P

Good luck knugen with your pcp job. I also got a job recently. My first freelancer job. A company called Oak is paying me £12h/r to make some flash banners.

I've totally made it.

I'm going to have to say it is a combination of funny and awesome, just because on a disgusting scale, there are things many times more disgusting out there, even on youtube I'm sure. Plus it's pixel art, how disgusting can it get?

that's rhetorical...

Speaking on internet problems, my router croaked in some mysterious way yesterday, got a new one today, can't transmit up two flights from the basement to my room, WTF. I know little to nothing about the workings of routers, modems, and internets, but seriously, it can't be that hard to make shit that works. They claim it has a distance of 600ft, maybe that's if it's 600 feet of open space.

I've got the first few seconds of my 5 Shades of Orange entry up today, so I figured I'd post it here for comments and such since lots of people check this thread.

You shouldn't take the Discovery channel seriously, they exaggerate and sensationalize for effect and entertainment (it's why Mythbusters is such a good show. It wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if they didn't escalate every 'myth' to biblical proportions and blow stuff up).

90% of "futurist ideas" you have right now will be phased out by something better before they come to fruition.

You know like in the 70s they were all like "Ya in the future there'll be video phones instead of normal telephones". Guess what, we hvae cellphones and internet, and nobody really cares about videophones any more.

I came across this ad that generated your band name based off of your last name and music style and couldn't help but chuckle at how accurately this describes Old Navy.

One thing I'm looking forward to (I'm switching tracts a tad here) is wireless power. A lot of the major electronics companies are currently working on it and it seems to be going well. I think it's the next big technological innovation - a subtle thing that will change the way we do things, or at least improve all of our devices considerably. I don't think it'll be used (or is being targeted at) home appliances, but things like mobile phones, laptops, portable game consoles.. being able to charge them constantly without having to plug them in will be a big thing. It'll be like having an unlimited battery on your iPod :3

I doubt the efficiency of wireless power.

If it's transferred as waves, the waves will dissipate as the device gets farther from the source, killing the efficiency of the power. Like a wireless signal gets weaker as you get farther away, wireless power would do the same and you'd be wasting energy (which is quite valuable right now).

Not saying it can't be made efficient, but I think everything will have its own internal power source (think super long lasting battery) before wireless power actually becomes worth it.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-11-19 19:03:28

I don't trust Wi-Fi at all, my relationship with my connection is in thin ice, so I really don't think being able to recharge home appliances though wireless energy waves without reducing the power charge is a really achievable idea, although if it does get done, I'll shove my words up my ass and hope until the install those below every square foot of ground.

I mean if you think about, satellite dishes receive a crapload of energy all the time. if you sat or stood in one of those you'd be microwaved

i just came back from an open studio at capilano university. place has the best animation studio in BC.

anyways i attended a bunch of workshops and found out what i needed for a portfolio, with a final workshop of being able to chat with grad students of the animation courses and eat free pizza and pop. there weren't as many people in that workshop as they thought so there was so much pizza left at the end.

but the highlight of my day was when i was thankful i brought my flash drive, because i was able to work on quincy the quadriplegic amputee on windows 7 ultimate, in flash CS4, on the FUCKING CINTIQ 21UX HOLY SHIT!!!

i'm totally going to capilano when i grad.

no man! Bluetooth EVERYTHING.

Just imagine, your home theater system has only 1 cord per box. Power for the TV, power for the surround sound, (wireless power to each speaker >__>)

BUT ALL OF THEM CONNECTED VIA BLUETOOTH! No more bajillion cords in and around teh back of the TV/whatevah

Looks the same as the system they were using in the movie Iron-Man, pretty cool. I don't like the idea if the 'window like' screen though. Keeping your identity safe is hard enough as it is without offering an 'open window' to your details.

I mean in the scene with the man in the office, you could clearly see right through his screen from the other side and see what he was working on.

I had a thought though , what if your house gets its on OS/development platform and you could make apps for it, that would be interesting.

I'm just dying to hack someone's house. Y'know...burn their crumpets, expose their porn/sex toy collection at inappropriate times, incinerate their mail, watch them poop and put it on youTube, etc.

Yeah...the future is so bright, I gotta wear nightvision goggles.

Nope, and with the weekend coming up I think it will be next week at best.

Also what sort of stuff did they want to know, did they care about your previous projects (did you show ng-medals.com etc.)?

I made a simple portfolio page for a uni course about a year ago which I showed to them but it basically had only games (Flash and C++), the only site on there was this one. I did mention NGM among stuff I've done, but I was aware even before I contacted them that I would have to try to sell my general programming skills more than specifically PHP because I haven't used it very much to be honest.

I'm currently studying at uni, if I didn't do that then I would probably have made sure to prep myself with everything I've got for this interview, but as it is I feel like getting the job would just be a bonus and because of that I pretty much just went with it. The general feeling is still that it went well though :)
