The game design principle behind the bow and the shield for the Sniper is obvious. When you spot an enemy in TF2 you'll want to know, at a glance, exactly what he's using. It's the same in WoW - you want to know what spec that Paladin is in PVP from a single glance of his armour so you can adjust your strategy accordingly.
Now the Klitzkreig and Natascha look similar enough to the Medic and the Heavy's original weapons, but when you're up against either you'll spot how the strategy changes and be able to see the differences because you're up close and personal. The Sniper doesn't have that fumble- when you spot a sniper (if you're lucky!) you're normally half the sodding map away. A change of one rifle to another just wouldn't cut it. Wouldn't be fair.
The bow is a massively different shape. And the Razorback is just clever. It might actually make me want to actually play TF2 instead of hearing all this from my brother.
