Competition update

So day 1 is done, 7 hours of nonstop animating to the theme "Don't spoil the view"

I'll be posting our finished flash when i can ^_^ probably in a file mixed with the other 2 skills flashes i've done.

Also tomorrow we get to watch everyones final products, so after that we'll have a guess of if we win, but if we do. . . that'd be epic >=D

Still using Youtube as a portable radio station, despite the best intentions of the music industry over here blocking access to most of it. And the comments are ridiculous. A load of copy and pasted stuff like:

I fucking hate metal elitists, especially when theyre into shit like that and dont know what theyre talking about. Marilyn Manson is pretty much a pop icon himself now.

I love metal, along with a large variety of other genres of music, and it really annoys me when people cant open their eyes and at least accept that there are other great styles of music out there.

Metal for life, yeah whatever, why pigeonhole yourself like that? The bands that break away from the mould the most are often the most original anyway. Fuck, cradle of filth must take shit loads of influence from opera.

Hey guys I need some opinions.
My friend and I are making 2 different websites for my friend (a DJ), and that friend will choose which one he likes more.

At the moment, I am not done, but he seems to like my friends' more. Do you guys have any suggestions for what I can do to make it better? Should I add, take away, or change anything? It's about 50% done at the moment btw.

people generally don't know too many lonely island songs so they listen to the few they know, and it gets annoying. thats why i skipped dick in a box and added santana DVX.

cookietimekid's in my PO3 team so i better explain myself.

basically it's my friend's account that i know the pass to (since his pass is almost always the same), and what happened is i read tom's post about how they had to have at least a few flash animations, contributions, or at the very least made a blog post and added some user icons so it looks a lot neater when he posts the team.

so i logged onto his account and gave him a temporary user pic (not display pic) so that way we can get in.

then i forgot to log off.

But I just wanted to say that haXe is becoming a very nice tool for normal Flash programmers to enable them to expand to more powerful platforms with little difficulty, since you can write servers and native programs or anything else just as easily as Flash games. It'll probably add Java support this year too so you'll be able to make apps for phones and iPhone in addition to the current capabilities. All it costs you is to stop using Flash as a central development tool.

I'm always plugging it not because I worship it, but because I find it the best solution to the question or problem I'm addressing. When there's any other good solution, I always take care to list it before haXe.

For me personally it's not a very good fit, so seriously, stop thinking it's made for people like me, because it's made for people like you.

I'm not looking for a "one size fits all" development environment. I can work extremely fast and extremely efficiently in the flash IDE by taking advantage of what flash offers and knowing all the "hackish" shortcuts I can take to speed up development time. It's why I can do a game in a week or 2 (aether) and have it come out good. That's the entire reason I like flash, fast development. I don't have to write a level editor for my games, cause I can just place marker clips in the IDE that spawn enemies and interactive objects in levels. This is really the only reason besides easy cross-compatability that makes flash a good target for game development.
