haha, even people who do flash constantly dont care about group projects. :(

It's mostly the people who are fairly new to flash who participate in collaborations. Not always, there are exceptions, but for the most part. People who are better with flash or more experienced generally lean towards the solo project or coder/animator aspect of flash while the less experienced prefer working with people as practice so they can make an animation but the animation doesn't have to be a full length animation.

Its contraversial... ive come to the forum a few times trying to participate in someone elses collab.... but its the same shit... just a different song. I wish people were doing more interesting things, not just a mash of different unrelated parts. Thats boring. Theres people out there who want to participate in collabs theres just not anything innovative going on. Anyone can just pick a song and animate random things to it..

Guys, Luis just gave me the best idea...how about a Mario collab!

Just messing, but seriously i wish something original would come out, pixel has been done, music is getting old, the pass the flash things are still kinda cool, and sprites are getting boring.

I dunno if this would work, but it'd definately be original, although sorta like pass the flash. We get one person to animate a person or two doing something along with a background object. Then they send it to the next person who does the same thing and it's like 5-6 people just adding different things to the scene, while another group does the same then there would be something that would help the scene switch like a guy walking into the next frame or something. Or it could just be a loop. I dunno. I just think it'd kind of look cool, cause there could be two different art styles chatting or interacting in some way.

Meh, reg collabs have been organised at least three times before and failed...

One thing I was thinking of as a small collab idea (well, it just popped into my head a couple of seconds ago), is a fight between two characters, and one animator gets each one. So one animator does a move for his guy, then the other animates a response, and then it goes back, and so on...

Not sure how you could extend that past two or three collaborators, though.

Shouldn't it be more common with collabs that kind of follows a story? Or any at all, I can't remember any from the top of my head.

Like, you just have story that either already exists or written by the collab participants, then everybody animates a chunk of the text (while following some guidelines that is common for all parts so that the transitions between the different parts go smoothly).

Another idea might be to make a game consisting of a few smaller games, with cut scenes and some kind of plot. This could involve all kinds of people on here: writers, voice artists, animators, and programmers..

I had like this idea for a collab where you saw this man or woman after an accident, and he/she was like slowly dying or something and then there would be flashbacks of all sort of events from that persons life and every animator would do his/her own flashback in his own style. I would then animate a couple of shots that would take place in the current time (of people giving first aid and stuff). In my head it turned out great, but in the end no one would probably join as it's way too complicated, too dramatic, doesn't appeal to a shitload of people and in the end it would just be another music synced collab... Psh, if I made a post every time I had a 'brilliant' idea the Reg Lounge would be twice as long...

Seems like it's a shame that it's mostly relatively inexperienced users that make collabs here. Guess that collabs that requires more commitment than what's needed to do some random short clip to music have a too small chance to go all the way.

Except we're not nazis. The BA requirement isn't really about quality, it's about the collab starter having enough experience to know how to copy paste parts together. 4.00 might yield better collabs, but that would be a pretty harsh standard.

All you have to do is make some video game parodies involving Mario doing wacky things.

I say, someone should make a flash relay, where each person makes a scene with someone catching a baton, then going thought a obstacle course of there making, then at the end throwing the baton off screen... Would be interesting to see what course's people would end up creating

Stop suggesting collabs and go make a thread if you think it'll be a good idea, this is like the 20th time this thread degraded into "lets do a reg collab!"

I think you forfeit your rights to say anyone is degrading the reg lounge once you start posting conversations with strangers about hot dogs, ketchup, and sexual innuendo.

I have an idea about designing a quick game that only takes about 10 minutes or less to master. The collab aspect comes in the form of multiple artists do complete sets of graphics for said game. at the start of the game, the player chooses which artist's version he'd like to play with. just a thought...

I think that'd be the best idea. Someone should whip up an engine similar to portal defenders, then we all make a set of sprites for it. It would obviously be a lot of work for the main coder/artist, but i think it's the only thing that would work :P.

If you were really good, you could even build a template so people could make custom special attacks for their player, eg paranoia makes people sit down and shiver, delta can shoot code, jtmb02 can shoot clouds, and luis can (as always) use his lollipop.

Anyway, just an idea.

I'm in the process of acquiring CS3 now, so i can get my feet wet in AS3. Once i learn the ins and outs of it, I'll come back to this idea and see what i can whip up. I always envisioned the game engine would be a top down shooter like galaga, but now that you mention it i realize the concept could applied to any game engine. Imagine AH redone with graphics by your favorite artist?

if someone else does this, i want credit :P

Actually, it probably would just mean that anyone lower than the standard (i.e. most collab starters) would need to be approved by mods on an individual basis. Still, most flash mods are too nice to refuse approval unless something's definately definately going to fail :p

Hey, Glaiel's failed at organising reg collabs along with the best of them :( Well, so long as my memory serves me anyway.

I'm a bureaucratic nightmare when it comes to collab thread requests. Last few collabs I refused I asked the topic starters to come up with two people who would keep the collab afloat (that I could vouch for) and an example of the artwork.

They never got back to me about it...

As someone who attained thier 4.17 purely through collabs, let it be known I don't recommend using this forum for collaberations anyway. The best collabs in my opinion are the invitation only ones - working with people you know nothing about just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

haha thanks judas.

Yeah i admit i contribute to the collab spammage. I think i hit my breaking point tho, cause people been assuming ill say yes and they wont even ask me anymore. they will just make their collab and say i approved it. Which is a blatant lie of course.

Anyway, i agree with the comment whoever made earlier that any collab initiatives regarding the reg-heads here should probably devote its own thread. Wouldnt want it to be overshadowed by glaiels hot dog conversations.
