Im not sure if the idea has been surfaced before, but do you think that more and more adobe products will be obtaining a Flash type interface in the future? Flash Catalyst makes me think so.

Google Oddness

A couple of months ago the phrase "A cow has eaten your hat. You are dead." returned zero results in Google, so I put said phrase in my sig. Now a Google search of "A cow has eaten your hat. You are dead." returns three results; two threads form '09 made about the time when I had it in my sig and one thread from '07. Now why is that then? The link form Google was even the old style link (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php ?id=). If anyone can explain I'll buy them a coconut.

The Google Spider just shoots all over the web, scanning pages. If it finds a link, it follows it. Chances are there were random bits of code laying around, and it picked them up which may have led it to some sort of web history bank.

That or it was Chuck Norris' doing.

Either way give me my damn coconut.

Still why would it use the old link system though?

When you click on that it loads the page and reformats the URL to the new format. The Google link didn't. You've not earned that coconut yet.

Because if it used a web history bank how would it know to reformat the URL?

Coconut?

Pretty good game. Graphics were sensational... if only I was a better gamer I could get past MindChamber. I'll conquer it one day.

Now excuse me I have more wood to chop.

I set up a 'Contact Me' thing on my site aggggggggggges ago (about the last time I updated it......) and I get some seriously messed up shit. It's not a email-based thing, it's just PHP and a .txt file, so it's hard to understand why they want to send sort of crap anyway.

A couple of excerpts:

hi i am monica iknow that you are doing this. i want to know that when is it going to start.i want to know becase i want my famliy to come thir.i really want to know.i just need your street address and the phone number. || Email:wmr821/@*********.com

An illiterate stalker apparently...

karin a 100 memet || Email:karindahan10@***********.com

Points go to anyone who can translate that. (Google says it's "abdomen of a 100 Memet" in Turkish, which means nothing to me).

testing testing one two three fart fart fart!!!111!!!!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha...... ha || Email:rockinrubyluver@*********.com

High calibre one this one....

%uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD...%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD..XD %uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD %uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD..%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD..%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD%uFFFD!!! || Email:HAGARBALTSAN@***********.COM

I get a few of these: a bunch of boxes with hex values in them. If anyone can give any clue how to translate these I'd be very happy.

And then, of course, the inevitable:

Google works like so: Starts on a webpage, follows all the links, indexes pages, follows links, rinse and repeat. I would assume it went to a topic, saw the link to the AS:MAIN topic formatted in the old way (Link posted by a user, presumably) and it then saved that url it clicked (NOT the resulting URL) to it's database and the contents of that page, so it saved the shown link, not the resulting :)

Save The Earth yo!

It's as simple as using Blackle instead of Google.

Blackle is black, which uses less watts of electricity and it works exactly the same as google.

There has already been 1,155,635.692 Watt hours saved.

Actually, it's been disapproved as bullshit. It doesn't matter what colour pixels are displayed, uses the same amount of energy.

Yeah I get why it showed up on Google as the old link, but when you clicked through NG still showed the old link rather than formatting it as the new one. ;)

Physics Problem

Right, so I was thinking.
If, black holes have infinite mass then then how come they
don't have infinite gravitational pull because of infinite gravitational force?
Shouldn't our universe be sucked in totally then by a black hole?
Hmm, I'm confused.
Please someone explain.

wrong, black holes do NOT, i repeat NOT have infinite mass; they have a very real, very finite mass.

Black holes 'do' have an infinitesimal size, and thus infinite density.

They don't, they're just dense. Instead of thinking so much you could've like checked Wikipedia or something.

I'm not, I only invariably always sound like I am. :p

As I usually find everything on my own I like telling people to be more independent whenever they ask obvious advice of any kind. Should I give up on hoping they'd stop wasting their and everyone's time like that? (Well, I know, probably, but I won't unless I'm told to.)

S, wait a sec.
I thought mass depended on density.
So if something has infinite density how does it not have infinite mass?

Mass = Density * volume.

Summer Holidays

Me and my friends were planning to have this epic road trip in the US next summer and this week we've finally booked our tickets to New York and back again from San Francisco and we've rented a Chevrolet Uplander for 4 weeks to cruise us around the country. This is going to be the best holiday ever :D Now, we've already listed a couple of sights to see obviously but if any of the people who actually live or have been to the US have a couple of must-sees I'd love to know those. We haven't really set down a definite route so far, with 4 weeks to drive around we figured we have enough time to take a few detours.

Also, how would I go bout making this game fun to play (mouse to aim and shoot, space to reload, enter for powerups)?

Anything finite and within reason, so as to avoid the problem that started this whole mess :/
