WATCHMEN MOVIE DISCUSSION PART 2

Alright guys the movie is actually out now, what were your thoughts?

Personally, i think with the time frame that they had the ending was a really good alternative to the comic's ending (they would've needed another hour worth of film for more backstory stuff otherwise)

Now the thing is though, i still think this movie is yet another movie where its better to read the comic first. I know thats not the best thing to hear but more people that read the comic seem to enjoy the movie much more.

Actually this would be a cool experiment...

At your own discretion: If you have NOT read the comic, go see the movie and tell us what you think! however this might not be good for you personally because then you leave the theater thinking "not that great" or something... i dunnno....

Unborn is crap. I saw it last weeks, wasn't scary, wasn't interesting and was stupid. It was like watching one big cliche.

And the acting was poor, except the guy who was in batman.

It still isn't out where I live, however, I'm really looking foward watching it, I'm not sure what can I expect. It is exactly the kind of movie that is great or a total failure, since I'm a comic maniac, I am aware the fact that it is HARD to turn to movie, I really hope they made a good job...

To be perfectly honest, I'm sick of hearing about that goddamn Watchmen movie. My friend saw it and he said that the best part was that he got to see blue penis a lot. So, if you like penis, then this movie is for you.
I'll probably end up seeing it, no doubt someone's going to drag me along to see it.

Not really, it isn't all too popular, it actually is a comic series that is noe on cinema, the reason why we care so much is that near the ending for the comics, there was an ending that I really find hard to explain.

Example: "...And the man was completly alone" and they show a drawing of a man cornered up in a room

Of course, this is extremly hard to adapt to movie format, so the movie was predicted as wether an epic failure or an epic win.

NO. Simply put, your friend is a dumbass. The watchmen is not showing the blue penis just because it can, its doing it to be acurate. The comics were drawn like that and all in all it makes sense. Why would someone nearly omnipotent need clothes anyways? He cant be killed by anything he doesn't care about humanity he doesn't need to dress like that.

As for the book itself, the comic was very unusual for a comic book (and remains so today). The entire story is just so huge, but the time frame in which stuff happens is really not that big. (due to flashbacks and stuff). The characters of the watchmen are human. With the exception of Manhattan all of the characters are not "Super" heroes, they're people that wanted to make a difference by dressing up in costume. All in all though, the comic was written INCREDIBLY well, like to the point that the literature in the books are just THAT well written.

Lastly, i wanna point out that the ending of the watchmen is phenominal. I prefer the comic ending of course but they had to simplify it for the movie due to a time frame. I have never read anything with an ending as good as this one, it even caused me to consider changing the ending of my flash series exile to be similar to that one (in theme, not like what happens exactly).
