Yeah, that's the type of thing I'm trying to come up with. It all depends, but the thing is I don't know how to make .pdf's, so that's kind of an issue. I mean, someone could make a downloadable flash out of it, except for the issue of updating it. I think there should just be a .zip file with all of them inside notepad files or something, along with totally updated links [POSSIBLY] since denvish went down and a lot of the links go to that.

A downloadable flash? I'd say about 90% of the world's computers (Excluding Labtops) are connected to the interweb. I figured that if it was something printable, then people would be able to carry it around with them like a book.

If you think people would actually use something like that, then I'd be willing to break down all the tutorials into individual text files, a few .swfs (For the tuts that I can replicate), and pack them into a .zip file. I have quiet a bit of free time right now.

Maybe I'd actually get something done in that time. Maybe.

Also, maybe you should make your sig a link to the flash. Just a suggestion. :P

Jimtopia got a series page...
I wanna scream "Why the fuck does a piece of shit lazy-ass tweened series that hasn't even had the main character redrawn before, and the motherfucker doesn't even has arms, ...with roughly only 20 toons get a fucking series page, when more productive people are working on to improve their series, yet remain unrecognize!"
, but I wouldn't really mean those hurtful words because I'm just upset and dry.

I do feel a lil' hurt though...

RE: AS : Main On a file?

Wait, if you can't do it in adobe acrobat reader, can't your just do it in like, Microsoft word? I've never used adobe, so the only changes I know between the two, is that adobe looks alot, ALOT nicer.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

It wouldn't be that hard to do it in adobe acrobat reader, but I was under the impression that a good chunk of computers didn't have it. && As for Microsoft word, that would be a little on the cruel side for Mac users, eh?

Good point, isn't there a notepad version of the list? so couldn't you just print that out? also, does a Mac have any sort of a "Word"? Isn't there something like Appleworks 6? (I dunno)

That's actually a pretty good idea. It'll give the new users a chance to see some of the old newgrounds jems.

Lol, there WAS a notepad version of the list. The current link to it leads HERE. Every computer in the school I go to is a mac, and I don't remember what the writing software on it is, lol. I just remember trying to turn in a Microsoft Word file on a disc, and it not opening.

I'm almost positive that Macs can open .pdfs and .txts though.

Gives a chance at old users to spark nostalgia and find gems as well... in watching that stamper flick it was interesting to see how his proportions got less bulky but still kept true to his style.

AS: Main to PDF

Here's a working link.

Also, converting AS: Main would be a mammoth task and with the AS3, is it really worth it?

Thanks for the link [:
I can't speak for everyone, but I know that at least I'd use it; I'm sure that there's some carry-over from AS2 to AS3, it's not like they wouldn't be any help.

I just timed how long it took me to make a .pdf, a .txt, and an example flash for a tutorial. Assuming that someone spent 50 minutes a day, all of AS: Main could be ready for distribution in about a month. (50 minutes a day)

I watched this old Alphabet song one a few days ago. It's a good reminder of where my original roots lie in NG. It was my favorite when I first came to NG about 4 years ago.

Funny, I was such a fag when I first came here that I can't really reminisce over any real good movies from so long ago. I came here because of Xiao Xiao and then after I started animating, I just can't appreciate those stick movies like I could.

But XX is definitely still the best stick animation on NG.

There is one movie from a while ago that I just watched again the other day and remembered how bad I wanted to see the second one, which never came out.

Which was Merry Melony Ep 1.

Kirk, way to stomp on all my hopes and dreams, JACKASS :p.
But seriously, it might actually not be worth it. I guess if you're a noob, then you probably won't know how to use AS: Main, while if you're a good scriptor, you won't NEED AS: Main, so there's only the Intermediate who go away and don't know which parts of it they'll need.

Maybe sometime, when I switch over to AS3 or something, I'll think about getting a kind of collab together, where everyone chooses a spot and we can make our own downloadable versions, so that way it won't need to be a thread on Newgrounds and we can start off with it as being downloadable. But fuck AS3, so you have a good 5 or 6 years till I switch over :)

Drunken musings

I suppose it's
straightforward enough
just drink enough to take yourself
to a state of euphoia and enlightenment...
no further.

I'm further
throwing up a bit should
have restored the balance
and it has
a bit
not enough though...

the world is
still swimming...
don't mix - that's the thing
it always seems ok at the time, but
a couple hours later at home, alone
life punishes...

there was a definate connection with that girl
but then like a fucking idiot...
just staying at arm's length...

close enough to smell...
no closer

i suck...

and now for half a day#s sobering up...

I figured I'd ask this here, because most of you have been sponsored a time or two.

About a month ago an artist contacted me and requested a collaboration. Since then we've finished the game, and in my hands I hold the completed Flash. He says he's contacted our sponsor and that they've agreed on an amount. Now he wants the .fla so he can add the sponsors intro.

But...
When I asked to speak to the sponsor, or even who the sponsor was, he refused to me. (I had questions about payment, and other things.)

Should I trust him with the .fla file?

no.
tell him you want copies of all the emails and contact with the sponsor, along with a contract regarding the money. Also, ask him to send you the sponsors intro.

Also, add some code that says, "if <http://website.com/file.xml> contains "scam" then do not work" and then if he does cheat you out of money, simply change http://website.com/file.xml to say "scam" and the game won't work and he'll be fucked :)

Thats why you should do it yourself =P. Thats what i do.

As people know, you really cant trust anybody on the internet

Well, there is those certain inter-friends that you make

But when i get my collaborated games sponsored, i tell my coder what sponsor. Most of the time i do Armor Games or no sponsor at all, knowing that i trust them with everything and my coder knows who Armor Games is, they don't worry about it.

Can anybody even understand that?

Probably can't, just ask the guy for the contact info of the sponsor and agree w/ the sponsor your percentage of the $ is sent to you and his $ to him.

What I can't understand *Cough* is how someone can be so close to finishing a game, but not wanting to art the last images? *Cough*

But if this doesn't work out, you could always resort to Newgrounds sponsors. Guaranteed, you probably won't get as much money and the ads in your game are pretty annoying, but at least its better than nothing... :/
